~ Midnite telling off Edge for leaving the Spark Hunters |
Midnite is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Bedrock and Daphne) of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. She is a ghost Rabbid as well as a member of the Spark Hunters.
Personality[]
Midnite is mischievous and a snarky Rabbid who will often show up on multiple occasions to taunt the Heroes, from her presence alone, to "accidentally" destroying Rabbid Rosalina's knitwork in front of Captain Orion, to give him a hint on what became of her. She was also friends with Edge when she was still the Spark Hunter leader, but their friendship went downhill when Midnite, Bedrock, and Daphne turned on her when Edge tried to reform them. Their first interaction since then started off friendly until Edge makes it clear she does not intend on returning to their side, which brings out her immature side, and in addition to that, she is also hypocritical when she accuses Edge of hurting their friendship when she and the Spark Hunters were the ones turned on her when Edge was actually only trying to help them see the light and bore no fault in breaking the friendship. After Midnite is defeated, Edge spares her life to show that she still cares, with Midnite understanding before leaving. Midnite also comes across as envious and short-tempered with the former shown when Daphne reveals to have more success in capturing the Sparks while she and Bedrock did not, and the latter is shown in between battle phases before she changes the battlefield. Despite her ambitious nature, Midnite is shown to be remorseful which is seen after her defeat and Edge sparing her life, and she, alongside Bedrock, watch in sadness and remorse at the suffering of the Sparks at Cursa's hands, indicating that she may have realized that Edge had been right about Cursa and leaving them in the first place.
Biography[]
After Rosalina was possessed by Cursa, she created Midnite, Edge, Bedrock, and Daphne as her extensions to her goal in gathering the Sparks to absorb in order to suppress Rosalina's will. It does not take long before Edge, the only Spark Hunter with a free will, saw how evil Cursa was and tried to tell the Spark Hunters about it. Midnite, Bedrock, and Daphne were loyal to Cursa and betrayed Edge instead, resulting in her leaving. While Kanya was created to take her place, it isn't known if she and Midnite ever interacted.
Midnite was sent to Winter Palace on Pristine Peaks where she trapped Rabbid Rosalina in the Darkmess Dimension of the library and gets Captain Orion frozen in ice when the planet was suffering a severe blizzard. After the blizzard is ended, Edge suspects that one of the Spark Hunters is at the Winter Palace and free Captain Orion. Midnite appears at multiple points to taunt the heroes and eventually destroys Rabbid Rosalina's knitwork. Eventually, Midnite appears, and she sees Edge revealing herself and was happy to see her again, but once Edge refused to return to the Spark Hunters, she is annoyed and acts subtly childish before letting the heroes know that they used to be friends, to their confusion as Edge quickly ends the subject. She then taunts Edge that real friends stick around before vanishing to the Darkmess Tentacle. Rabbid Rosalina was reading some books before becoming bored, but after seeing Orion trying to approach her only to get captured himself by Midnite, she is quickly furious as she gets ready to fight her with the heroes. After Midnite is defeated, they are set free and Edge spares Midnite's life, who leaves alive in sadness.
When returning to Cursa's stronghold, Midnite and Bedrock were distraught over their failures as they were about to face repercussions. She and Bedrock soon become envious and upset when Daphne is revealed to have collected three Sparks and Cursa almost crushes Midnite and Bedrock before draining the Sparks, which horrified them, except Daphne. It's unknown what happened to Midnite and the Spark Hunters, but at the end of the game, Edge implies that they are alive and currently seeking a new profession.
Trivia[]
- Midnite is the only known Spark Hunter to be friendly towards the heroes, though specifically to Edge.
