Mike and Jake Clausen are the villains of the Chick Tract, Gold Fever.
Biography[]
Mike (known as Big Mike) meets Billy Cobb and introduces him to his son, Jake. He tells Billy how a man called Old Sam found gold and cashed it in for $10400. Some ladies got Sam drunk, killed him, and stole all his money. Big Mike tells Billy to tell no one but him if he (Billy) ever finds gold.
Billy finds a gold nugget under the roots of a tree that is struck by lightning. Bringing along Mike and Jake for protection, he cashes the nugget in for $38000. That night, however, Mike and Jake steal his nugget, with Mike shooting Billy with a gun. They ride away, laughing.
Billy is taken to a shack, where a preacher tells him the story of how he was attacked by a tribe of Indians who killed his family, scalped him, set him on fire, and left him for dead. However, he lived through it (although he lost a leg), and after hearing the story of the crucifixion of Jesus, he accepted God into his heart. After hearing the story, Billy prays to God as well. In death, he goes to Heaven, where his family is thrilled to see him.
However, Mike and Jake are not so lucky. They end up in Hell, where they are still screaming. It is likely that they never heard about God's gift, or if they did hear it, they likely rejected it.

- It is never shown how Mike and Jake died. Jake apparently also died young.
- Mike and Jake are rare cases of Chick Tract villains who end up in hell instead of escaping punishment via a last-minute conversion.
