Miklo "Milkweed" Velka is one of the three main protagonists of the crime-drama film Blood In Blood Out (also known as Bound by Honor). A half white half latino young man, Miklo, along with his two best friends his cousins Paco and Cruz, finds himself involved in the life of crime as a gangbanger. However, unlike the other two who despite their trials break free from the gang life, Miklo is the one who doubles down on it and becomes a merciless, hardened gangster.
He was played by actor Damian Chapa.
Biography[]
After he killed Spider the leader of a small rival gang together with his gang leader Paco and others they had to escape from the police, some ran away others were caught like Paco and Miklo who was injured they arrested him. Miklo is sent to San Quentin State Prison, in there he will already start to be targeted and bullied and some will even want to rape him, some of the white Aryans and black men. However, he is recognized by someone thanks to his tattoos and becomes a friend of a member of La Onda, in an attempt to gain acceptance he will do anything. a prisoner Popeye will try to rape him but Miklo will be saved. To be accepted by the gang he will have to kill an enemy prisoner, after having found respect from the prisoner Big Al during a sexual encounter Miklo stabs him. Miklo will not be reported for the murder because he will have obtained sensitive information from Big about illegal gambling in prison. Miklo will be released on parole.
After an armed robbery Miklo will be arrested again. in prison after being promoted he will refuse for La Onda to be part of a cocaine trafficking in the prison by the Aryans, saying that the gang's purpose is to protect the Chicano people. This causes a rift in La Onda and Carlos, one of the main members who wants to deal cocaine, leaves the gang to work with the Aryans, doing this causes other members to leave as well. Miklo knows that Carlos was just being used so he begins to weaken the Aryans gang.
while Montana goes to visit Chino and Folsom in prison Miklo will remain as the temporary head of La Onda.
However, Montana will be stabbed to death shortly before seeing his daughter. after the incident between La Onda and the BGA there will be a peace conference but it will be manipulated by making Paco believe that it went well. After the Aryans have been exterminated Miklo will also have the BGA men exterminated.
the police won't do anything to stop the killings because I make money from it. Paco will feel guilty for Miklo because he sent him to kill Spider and end up in prison, Magic gives Miklo the mold which they used to send the forged orders to the B.G.A. hit man.
Miklo sobs in grief over Montana's death, "I loved him!".
Paco will then forgive Miklo and Cruz after feeling guilty for having given them the order that landed them in prison for murder.
