Madam, what would happen if one of the chocolates we give away was accidentally eaten by a grown-up?
~ Mildred expressing her slight concern towards the adults to the Grand High Witch.

Mildred is a witch who is one of the Grand High Witch's followers and a minor antagonist in in the 1990 film adaptation of The Witches, although she only has a minor role.

She was portrayed by Emma Relph.

History[]

Like all witches, her main hobby is murdering children, due to the fact they smell like "dog’s droppings” to her. When she goes to The Witches annual meeting at a hotel, she reveals what her true form looks like as she is bald and has scaly claws hidden by gloves. After hearing Grand High Witch's plan to murder every child in England by using the sweets, Mildred asks her what her formula does and after hearing the effects she expresses her admiration. When the Grand High Witch demonstrates how her new formula 86 turns Bruno into a mouse, Mildred is shown laughing with delight. Before the ending of the meeting, she asks Grand High Witch what could happen if the chocolates with the Formula 86 were eaten by the adults, showing some concern towards them.

When the witches smell out the boy hiding in the room with them, Mildred is one of the main witches to give chase and then she helps Grand High Witch to use Formula 86 on him. Mildred meets her downfall with the other witches at the end of the film. Ironically they consume Formula 86 after it was put in their soup by the boy and his grandmother (who had been turned into a mouse). After being transformed into a mouse, she was slaughtered by one of the hotel staff members, believing her to be a real mouse.
