Militech continues to be a dominating force in military hardware manufacturing. The corporation continues to flourish and grow.
~ – Unknown, Corporation Report 2020 Volume 2.

Militech International Armaments, or simply Militech, are the secondary antagonists of the Cyberpunk franchise.

It is an American arms manufacturer that is among the most powerful corporations in the world, alongside their eternal rival, the Arasaka Corporation. They provide numerous weapons, vehicles, equipment, and personnel to anyone who can afford to pay them, from countries and cities, to other corporations, private VIPs, or even rebels.

Primarily based out of Washington D.C., the megacorp has been instrumental in preserving order and arming the forces of the New United States of America, formerly the United States of America, and were the primary belligerents of the Fourth Corporate War, alongside Arasaka.

They are responsible for numerous crimes both along the border domestically and internationally, and are responsible for the failed Project Cynosure, a project aimed to combat the Arasaka Soulkiller via utilizing a rogue AI from a place beyond the normal internet to prevent said rogue AI from corrupting and destroying the entire 'Net.

History[]

Founded in 1996 as Armatech-Luccessi International by Italian arms designer Antonio Luccessi, the company began its roots as an arms manufacturer with the 1998 trials for a new standard infantry assault rifle. The newly formed NUSA had only just begun to recover from the 1994 economic collapse and was seeking to replace the, quote, "cantankerous and unreliable to the extreme" M16A2, its standard-issued firearm to the military. Three finalists were selected in the form of the FN SAP, a cheap but clunky and unreliable weapon but was compatible with the equipment and ammunition used by the then defunct NATO alliance; the Colt AR-17X, a good but expensive weapon; and Armatech-Luccessi's entry, compact, reliable and much more moderatly priced compared to the AR-17X. While General Donald Lundee of the United States Marine Corps was impressed by the burgeoning corporation's entry, economic restraints and the near-collapse of the government forced the military to accept the FN rifle, much to Lundee's objections and leading to his resignation.

What followed was what could only be described as a total disaster in the form of the Second South American Conflict in 2003, where NUS soldiers were killed in the thousands due to being equipped with unreliable SAP rifles that jammed in the tropical climate. Luccessi stepped down as CEO of Armatech-Luccessni International in favor of Lundee, who evisioned the streamlining of manufacturing; the production of high quality, modern military equipment to sell at competative prices, while also selling the technology on the global market without regard to political convention. This resulted in the company being renamed into Militech International Armaments and having its first success in 2004 with the Militech Ronin Light Assault Rifle, securing its place as a leader in the side-arms industry and selling uncountable amounts around the globe, from nations to other megacorps.

Unfortunately, a conflict between two rival aquacorps, CINO and OTEC, escalated as Arasaka took the side of CINO and Militech OTEC's. Originally meant to advertise the superiority of Militech weapons as the two aquacorps engaged in naval combat, the megacorps escalated by fighting each other directly even as both CINO and OTEC had made peace and begged their benefactors to stand down. The resulting war and nuclear strike caused the NUSA to formally nationalize the megacorp, although it still enjoys profits in the modern day.

Trivia[]

  • The word "Militech" is a portmanteau of "Military" and "Technology."
  • Militech apparently has numerous showrooms in various locations, from downtown shopping complexes that house the latest combat vehicle and weapon models to suburban malls, where only personal weapons, weapon attachments, accessories, and other gear are offered. Humorously, it is implied that any shoplifters are shot on sight.
  • According to the Big 5 Employers of Night City, Militech offers its employees a 50% discount on all Militech products (mostly weapons.)
  • The Megacorp has been caught massacring innocent citizens of the NUSA, with 75% of the victims of the massacres had been identified as Japanese.
  • Despite being the flagship American megacorp, many citizens lament Militech's hold on the nation and have numerously sought to at least lessen the influence of the megacorp to little success.
  • They completely disregard the lives of their veterans, from making forms purposefully complex to read, discharging them with inadequate resources, or even outright massacring them.
  • Militech sells more small arms (pistols, rifles, SMGs) than any other megacorp in the world to national and corporate armies, police departments, militias, security groups, and more.
  • Rosalind Myers, one of the former leaders of Militech, is now the NUSA president, and used the megacorp and the NUSA Army to annex the former states that opposed her ideals, except for the Republic of Texas. She is now in her third term, and is essentially a dictator in all but name, with critics labeling her as, quote, "a corrupt, corporate-backed fascist with imperialist delusions" and pointing out that Night City has the highest crime rate in the nation.
  • The megacorp is responsible for the destruction of Busan, a highly automated city in game, and the deaths of all 4 million people via biological weaponry. It is still quarantined to this day.
