Biography[]
History[]
Very little is known about Milton Midas' history, though "The Headline Hunter!" implies that he came from a wealthy background. He eventually became a rich tycoon similar to that of Cyril Sneer. Unlike Sneer, however, Midas let his greed and selfishness get the better of him.
The Headline Hunter![]
Midas makes his debut appearance in the season four episode "The Headline Hunter!". At the beginning of the episode, Cyril Sneer is watching Barbara LaFrum on the fictional television series 20 Minutes, where she is confronting Midas about his lack of care for his employees. With his reputation ruined, Midas collapses on the ground and is taken away by security, whilst manically promising to treat his employee better. Later in the episode, Sneer has a phone call with Midas, hoping to cut some sort of deal with him. Afterwards, he is not seen or mentioned for the remainder of the episode.
Stress Test![]
In the second episode of season five, "Stress Test!", Midas is seen setting up a scam with the help of his employee Seymour - he intends on tricking others into buying a worthless wasteland by disguising it as a more beautiful looking location. He almost manages to trick Cyril Sneer into buying it, but Sneer collapses before he can sign the deal. Though Sneer asks the Pigs to close the deal whilst he is in hospital, they end up forgetting to do so.
The Pigs confront Midas, who refuses to accept the deal as he is now offering a bidding session instead. Before the bid, Midas is confronted by Bert Raccoon, who was tricked by Midas into buying a toy airplane which does not work. Midas ignores Bert when he asks for a refund, however, when the airplane accidentally reveals Midas' scheme, he grumpily refunds Bert his money.
The One That Got Away![]
Midas makes his final appearance in the show's penultimate episode "The One That Got Away!". This time, he has hired the Pigs for a moonlighting job, and he offers them one thousand dollars for simply disposing of some barrels for him. Secretly, however, the barrels actually have toxic waste in them. After the Pigs get rid of them, they accidentally and unknowingly toss the barrels into a popular fishing lake that has been popular amongst Bert Raccoon and some of his friends for a long time.
The Pigs, feeling guilty, reveal the location of Midas' hideout. There, he is cornered by Bert Raccoon and company and is swiftly arrested by the police. What happened to him afterwards is unknown, though it is implied that the destruction he caused is permanent.
Personality[]
Midas is a selfish, greedy and underhanded businessman and scam artist. He does not care about the well-being of others at all, and is not above lying to and throwing others under a bus to get what he wants. "The Headline Hunter" also reveals he has no care for his employees. He promises to treat them better, though it is unlikely he did due to his nature, and he is never seen caring for his one employee seen on-screen.
The episode "Stress Test!" shows that he is really dishonest and money-hungry. He attempts to trick many of the aristocrats of Evergreen Forest, such as Cyril Sneer, Mr. Knox and Mr. Mammoth, into purchasing swampland, disguising it as a peaceful forest. He also tricks Bert Raccoon into buying a poorly designed toy, only giving him a refund once Midas' nature is exposed.
Midas arguably crosses the Moral Event Horizon in "The One That Got Away!", where he tricks the Pigs into dumping toxic chemicals into the Rippling Pond, a mythical and special pond which several of the characters cared deeply for, and killing many animals, including the iconic Old Tom. Whilst Midas is arrested for his actions, it is stated that the pond will remain ruined for at least generations, possibly forever.
When his truly horrible nature is exposed, Midas tries imply the situation was an accident, indicating that he is a complete coward.

Trivia[]
- Midas is depicted as having a minion, Seymour, in "Stress Test", yet Seymour is nowhere to be seen in "The One That Got Away". It is possible that Seymour got fired or left Midas due to his horrible nature, though the real reason he is not seen is unknown.
- Seymour's character design was later used for Robin Steel in the show's finale, "Go For Gold!" Though this could be a coincidence, and it is unlikely they are the same character since they have a different fur color.
- Midas is arguably the most evil character in The Raccoons, as he was responsible for potentially killing hundreds of fish and permanently damaging a large lake. Noticeably, Cyril Sneer and Mr. Knox were horrified when they found out what Midas had done.
- Although it is made clear that he was arrested, it is unknown if Midas was sent to prison, simply had to pay a fine, or both.
- Some fans speculate that, had The Raccoons continued past its fifth season, Midas would have taken over as the main antagonist, though this has never been confirmed.
