Mini-sloths are supporting antagonists in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown.
They are a tribe of little sloths who believe in the traditions of gods and kings and are led by a Mini-sloth named Layla Zee. They consider Sid "Fire King" and believe that if he falls into a volcano the earth will be safe from the "Threat of the center of the earth".
Mini-sloths spy on Sid for three quarters of the movie.
One night while the pack sleeps with Ellie and her adoptive brothers, Carsh and Eddie, Sid is kidnapped dragged on a piece of wood while he sleeps.
When Sid wakes up, he does not understand what is happening and asks if he can do something for the Mini-sloths, as soon as he arrives at their camp he tells himself that that is respect for him.
After that the Mini-sloths unload Sid on an altar with a wreath on his head with Layla Zee who gives him some stones and asks him to create the fire with which Sid willingly does it. After Sid realizes that the Mini-sloths are mimicking his own movements, he enjoys a wild party, until the Mini-sloths tie him up with hianas.
Layla Zee explains that throwing him into a volcano would save the earth, Sid tries to explain that there would be 100 years of "bad juju" if they killed him, but the Mini-sloths throw him into the volcano anyway.
Luckily Sid unties and the other end of the rope hooks to a branch on a rock and only a tuft of sloth hair touches the lava, and then Sid is catapulted into the nostril of his statue's nose which begins to collapse, take the joy out of the Mini-sloths and make them run and scream in fear while Sid always sneaks into the statue's nose and the Mini-sloths consider it a "bad juju".
The next morning when Sid comes back from his herd she tries to explain that he was kidnapped by the Mini-sloths last night, but no one believes him.
The Mini-sloths reappear again, all survivors (presumably they also climbed the ark) towards the end of the film, after the flood occurred and Sid is terrified to see them and hides behind Diego. The Mini-sloths beg Sid to join them as a figure of honor (always believing he was the one who saved the world), but Diego, was shocked by the fact that Sid was telling the truth about that night and about them and realizing how much Sid is really worth, helps the sloth refuse the offer kindly, because his friends need him. The rest of the herd were shocked to see Sid's story true.
Shortly thereafter, the Mini-sloths found the corpses of the film's two antagonistic marine reptiles, Cretaceous and Maelstrom, and took them away as "good sushi".
Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas
Some Mini-sloths appear in the Christmas short Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas. Protecting Santa's workshop.
When Sid, Peaches, Crash and Eddie arrive nearby for the mission, the Mini-sloths attack them and try to hunt them, but by doing so they accidentally cause an avalanche and destroy everything.
However, eventually the herd and the Mini-sloths manage to fix everything in time.
They are like the Bandar Log from Disney's The Jungle Book: They kidnap the protagonists for things that they believe.
