Yuuwa Tokui, or Minister Yuuwa Tokui is a major antagonist in the supernatural horror fantays anime and manga Ajin-Demi Human. He is the corrupt Japanese Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare who oversees the vast majority of the community of Japan and also the Ajins as well as the boss of Yu Tosaki. He is one of the prime targets of terrorist Sato as he abuses his position of power to line his pockets by putting Ajins into cruel experiments for medicine and captures more Ajins to use for his own purposes and serves as one of the major corrupt figures in Japanese society.
He is voiced by Toru Ohkawa in Japanese and in the English dubbed version, by Dave Mallow, who also voiced Anti-Spiral from Gurren Lagann.
Biography[]
Minister Yuuwa Tokui is the minster of the Health and Labor program of the Ajin division in Japan who oversees a number of organizations for his own interests. After a series of accidents, Yuuwa sends Yu Tosaki to investigate as well as gain some information on the Ajin as he continues his work on Ajins. Making a deal with a pharmaceutical company to line his pockets with more Ajins, he allows Ajin to be tortured to profit off their suffering just to produce and develop new drugs, with one of them suffering for years. Later on in the story, he is confronted by Sato, the leader of the Ajin resistance, who threatens his life into negotiating for peace and after that, orders Sato’s former unarmed subordinate to be cemented after the former double-crosses him. However, Tosaki confronts him and after surviving, reveals the corruption of the Japanese government and its assumed that he is arrested for his crimes.
Personality[]
In public, Yuuwa shows a sophiscated and knowledgeable side to him and even when he shows politeness, it’s in front of other people and he has a lot of knowledge on Ajins and is very good at managing his political and business revenues. However, beneath that, he is a callous, egotistical, avaricious coward who cares about nobody but himself. He doesn’t show any concern for how the Ajins are suffering, just needing to use them for profit and he is very stubborn as he never listen to Sato before the latter threatened his life, and places his concerns of his career over other people at all and even their welfare too.
