The people of Cantha embrace us, for they know ours is the side of righteousness.
~ One of the Ministry's slogans.
In the name of the Ministry of Purity, I sentence you to death!
~ One of the Ministry's slogans
The time is at hand. Change is ours to bring to these lands. Fight at the side of the Ministry of Purity, and fight on the side of justice. Do not be swayed by the words of weaker men. If a good man follows an evil leader, can you truly call him good?
~ Reiko to Canthans.

The Ministry of Purity is the central faction in Guild Wars during "Winds of Change" campaign.

History[]

The Ministry of Purity was established in 1077 AE by Reiko Murakami, with her nephew Ashu Yuudachi as the main public figure. The Ministry of Purity started dealing with things that other ministries, such as the Ministry of Flame, had turned blind eyes to. Few years later the ministry started their campaign against the problem of the Afflicted plague, a deadly disease originally created by Shiro Tagachi still lingering in Cantha long after his death, and subsequently went against the street gangs terrorizing Cantha, gaining them a large popularity with the common people, with many of them joining ranks of the Ministry. One of their latest goal was to eradicate and enslave members of the society labelled as "traitors", such as the race of the bird people Tengu, starting their own social reform based on the superiority of Canthan humans. After Reiko's death, Ashu became the new leader, claiming he had learned from Reiko's mistakes. However, the Ministry of Purity eventually went on supporting the Emperor when he banished all non-humans from Cantha, advocating on security over freedom and superiority of Canthan humans over others, and decided to close the ports, effectively isolating the continent from any outside influence for the next several generations.

During the events of Guild Wars 2, it is unknown if the ministry is still functioning, as the contact with Cantha had been lost.
