Minthara Baenre is a major character of the 2023 fantasy video game, Baldur's Gate 3.
She first debuted in Act I as one of the main antagonists, being the main antagonist of the Silvanus' Grove storyline. If she survived, she makes her return in Act II, where the heroes can recruit her as one of their companions.
She was a member of the Cult of the Absolute, specifically serving under the command of Ketheric Thorm. She was later assigned as one of the commanders of the Goblin forces assaulting the Silvanus' Grove, alongside Dror Ragzlin and High Priestess Gut, while also assign to find a mysterious artifact that Thorm wishes to get his hands on.
She is voiced by Emma Gregory.
Appearance[]
Minthara is a purplish-blue skinned Lolth-sworn Drow, with crimson eyes and pointed ears. Her silver hair is kept in a messy top bun, with stray strands of hair adorning her face. On the left side of her neck, she bears the seal of House Baenre in black, marking her a member of the ancestral house. Her combat equipment is well-made, and her at-ease clothes reflect some of her noble upbringing.
Personality[]
As a member of the Cult of the Absolute, Minthara is an incredibly devoted and loyal servant to the Cult and does not tolerate failures. As such, she is effective and brutal with her commands and often threatens her Goblin forces should they ever fail her. Despite her brutal demeanor, Minthara is capable of being affable as long as the player remains in good graces with her, as she recognize them as a true soul.
Should she survive the first act, her devotion to the Absolute is broken when her superior, Ketheric demands her to be sentenced to death for her failure on finding the mysterious artifact he seeks. Should the player rescue her, she becomes determined to get he revenge on the Cult, especially Ketheric for sending her to die and Orin the Red for her torture prior to joining the Absolute.
While she does join the heroes' party, Minthara is still rather ruthless and seeks to gain power. As such, she often disapproves of the player's merciful and noble choices, viewing them as a "waste of time" and sees it as a "sign of weakness." That being said, she does see some value in doing a good deed, and can praise the player for it.
