~ His introduction |
The Mirror Monster is the main antagonist of the second issue of the Little Nightmares comic series. He's a being that exists in a realm within mirrors. He's an evil reflection that pulls other beings into his realm.
Characteristics[]
The Mirror Monster, from what we can gather from the comic's story, is a humanoid that exists in mirrors (and possibly all other reflections). In the story, the small children entered a home and saw themselves in the mirror as warped reflections of themselves. The last of these was The Hunchback Girl, who looked into the mirror and made this being come into existence. Doing so also allowed for the other children to become the warped reflections that they saw.
Out of nowhere, he began capturing the children and bringing them into the mirrors. He was able to use the tentacles he had growing out of his head to grab them, and stretch from mirror to mirror. He was eventually defeated when the children smashed one of the mirrors he was in.
For the most part, this character's backstory and motives are unknown. He has a very high resemblance to other humanoids that we saw in paintings on The Maw, except they had different things growing out of their necks for heads. It is implied that this character was in some way apart of the girl that "created" him, because when he was shattered the girl became deformed.
Appearance[]
In the pace of his head, he has many brown hairy tentacles extending out of his body. He also has a humanoid body with caucasian skin, a red tie, a white button-up shirt, a yellow belt, large red pants, and black boots.
History[]
A group of small children went to explore an old abandoned mansion. When they climbed inside, it was filled with old mirrors with sheets draped over them. After the sheets were pulled off, each child looked into it and saw their forms warped. One saw theirs as strong, the second tall, and the third as two people. When the fourth looked, their eyes glowed blue and their reflections became reality. While they were all celebrating their new forms, the creature appeared and took the strong child. He grabbed him with his hair tentacle and forced him into the mirror realm. They all ran as another tentacle chased after them. The fourth child climbed into a crack to escape, but the other two were too big to fit. The third child came up with the idea that the mirrors could change them back, but when he and his second half ran up to the mirror, one of the two was kidnapped. The fourth helped the surviving half get away. The second child said that there was no hope and that they were all going to be captured. The fourth reassured him that they wouldn't and that they had an idea. They ran down the various mirrors, distracting the monster. While they did this, they had the other two hide behind a mirror until the fourth arrived in front of it. Once they did, the monster appeared and the fourth commanded them to smash it. After this, the other two were able to turn themselves back to normal but the fourth was left disfigured.

Trivia[]
- He makes a cameo appearance in Very Little Nightmares as a Jack-in-the-box.
- It is unknown whether or not he murders his victims.
- Characters with similar bodies and structures can be found in paintings throughout the Maw. However; these have different heads (also deformed) and do not appear to be in mirrors.
- He's theorized to make an appearance in Little Nightmares 3 as a mirror is shown many times during the trailer. The silhouette in the mirror on the poster for Little Nightmares 3 slightly resemble The Mirror Monster
