Misaka Worst is a major character in the A Certain Magical Index franchise.
She is a clone of Mikoto Misaka produced as part of the newest lineup of Misaka Clones, the Third Season. She was sent by Academy City to eliminate Last Order and Accelerator during World War III, but the plan failed and she ended up joining forces with Accelerator, who later forced the city to cancel the Third Season Project.
She is voiced by Ai Kakuma in Japanese and Brittney Karbowski in English, the latter voicing Mikoto Misaka and the other clones.
Appearance[]
Like all the sisters, Misaka Worst looks similar to Mikoto Misaka. However, unlike the other sisters, Misaka Worst has several differences that sets her apart from the rest.
She physically appears as an older and mature version of Mikoto, being around the age of 16 and is 2-3 centimeters taller than the original. She also has larger breasts and a more developed figure compared to the others, something that both Last Order and Mikoto are jealous of even when she doesn't mention it. She has dark circles around her eyes and orange irises, compared to the gray irises of the 20,000 Misaka Clones and to the original's brown irises.
In her initial appearance, Misaka Worst wore a full-body suit with a mask instead of a Tokiwadai school uniform like her fellow clones. After the events of World War III, she wears a pink and white aodai dress given to her by Kikyou Yoshikawa.
Personality[]
Misaka Worst embodies the negative aspects of the Misaka Network and acts as an "outlet" for those feelings. In contrast to her sisters, Worst is able to express more negative emotions, such as malice, anger, bloodlust and jealousy. As a result, she has a dark and twisted personality which is vastly different from the other clones. However, she's susceptible to all negative feelings emitted from the sisters and her will be overtaken if the negativity is too strong, best seen when she was affected by Last Order's sudden bout of envy.
She is shown to be extremely spiteful and cruel, as she took sadistic pleasure in tormenting Accelerator, both physically and mentally, during their battle in Russia by taunting him about the Sisters' hatred of him, and questioning the authenticity of Last Order's feelings for him. Worst blames Accelerator for her creation as she was solely made for the purpose of killing him. She shows no concern for her own well-being, as she tries to provoke Accelerator into killing her in an effort to further traumatize him and even attempted to commit suicide. However, she is capable of showing fear, as she pleaded for mercy after being brutally beaten by Accelerator.
Furthermore, Misaka Worst is very mischievous and roguish, often teasing others or causing people discomfort for her own amusement. She mainly targets Accelerator and later Umidori Kuroyoru, even making the latter cry at one point. She is also quite brash and lacks common sense about certain things. She's very proud of the fact that she has the most impressive bust of all her sisters, including the original, and likes to mock them about it, noting that since she was grown with different hormones there's no guarantee they'll ever be the same.
Unlike the other clones, Misaka Worst doesn't have any romantic feelings towards Touma Kamijou. In fact, she is actually terrified of him, as she values herself as the negative embodiment of the Misaka Network, and none of the Sisters have any negative feelings about him, making her fear him as dangerous to her existence.
Despite her villainous traits, Misaka Worst isn't without honor, as she joined forces with Accelerator to save Last Order after he prevented her from commiting suicide. She also protected Yomikawa and Yoshikawa from the Freshmen. It's heavily implied that Worst harbors feelings towards Accelerator, as she loses interest in picking fights whenever he’s not around. She's also shown to care about him, as she was worried about putting him in danger during the events in Hawaii.

- Radio Noise: The collective esper ability of the Sisters which allows them to manipulate electricity and magnetism. As a copy of Mikoto Misaka, she has the same abilities but to a lesser degree, however, Misaka Worst has more power than the other clones, being at Level 4. Her maximum voltage is approximately 200,000,000 volts unlike the regular Sisters, who can only go up to 50,000 volts. In addition to this, Worst is capable of perceiving electromagnetic waves with her naked eyes, as she doesn't need to use the same special goggles the other sisters have.
- Misaka Network: Unique to the sisters with their Radio Noise ability is the faculty to connect to the Misaka Network, a brainwave network formed out of their similar brainwave frequency patterns. With the Misaka Network, the sisters can, talk in a quasi-telepathic manner, experience and share the same memories of all the other clones. Unlike the other Sisters, Worst can normally control interference from the Network and Last Order due to implants she received in Academy City before being sent after her. Accelerator also pointed out that Misaka Worst can probably block him out from the Misaka Network, this idea comes from her being ready to take him on if necessary, but as she did not have the time to display that ability, it is unknown how it is that she can exactly achieve that or how effective she would have been.
- Magnetic Projectile Rifle: Worst can use her powers to propel objects at speeds greater than the speed of sound. It is different from Mikoto's Railgun in that it doesn't operate on the basis of Fleming’s left-hand rule. She primarily uses 2cm steel nails as ammunition.
- Oxygen Explosion Dash: Worst detonates all of the oxygen around her and uses the force of the blast to propel herself at great speeds, jump incredible heights, or even land without a parachute from a moving plane.
- Technokinesis: Worst's Electromaster abilities are high enough that she can use them to jam wireless signals and interfere with nearby electronics and cameras like Mikoto can. She can even move a cyborg's body against their will by manipulating their control mechanisms.
Abilities[]
- Military Training: Due to her connection to the Misaka Network, Misaka Worst presumably has extensive military expertise. She's a skilled combatant, able to take on Accelerator in battle. She reveals that she has some of Accelerator's fighting patterns inputted into her.
- 4th Wall Awareness: Misaka Worst has demonstrated the ability to break the fourth wall, as seen when she points out Mikoto's lack of appearances in the earlier novels of New Testament.
- Marksmanship: Misaka Worst is able to use firearms pretty well, as shown in the Invasion of Hawaii.
