The story of Miss Simian from the The Amazing World of Gumball franchise.
The Amazing World of Gumball[]
Season 1[]
In "The Mystery," Gumball opens his locker at school and discovers that Principal Brown is stuffed inside it, and he's been ungraciously shaved and painted green. Miss Simian angrily demands to know who did this and threatens everyone with time in detention if no one confesses to the crime. The students then try and figure out the culprit, but by the end, Gumball is unfortunately the only one left without an alibi. Miss Simian is about to give him detention before he runs away, but she promises no homework for anyone who catches him, thus instigating a chase.
However, Gumball manages to find Bobert, a robot student who has video evidence of the event. The footage shows that Principal Brown's injuries were actually an accident: an office door opened and hit him, causing him to fall down the stairs, roll through Darwin's toilet paper trail, crash into Penny's wet paint, land in Rocky's spilled chemicals, and finally tumble into Gumball's locker. When they replay the video to see who opened the door, it proves that Miss Simian was responsible. Simian then erases the evidence by deleting Bobert's memory and laughs, but when Principal Brown opens his door again, he accidentally hits Miss Simian and causes her to fly out the window and land in the recess area. The previously-called ambulance then runs her over.
In "The Ape", Miss Simian is shown to have an extensive collection of awards and accolades at school, except for the highly coveted "Favorite Teacher Award", naturally because nobody likes her. Simian pretends to make friends with Gumball, Darwin, and the Watterson family as a result and cozies up with them in order to win the award. Nicole is hesitant at first, and it is shown that Nicole bears a strong hatred for Miss Simian because she kept calling her a "loser" all her life. She is soon convinced that Miss Simian has changed her ways, but later finds out that she was faking her friendship after retrieving the letter from Gumball ensuring her of the award. This ensues in a wild car chase where the Wattersons, driven by Nicole, attempt to stop Miss Simian from getting the reward by crashing her car. It ends in Miss Simian falling off a broken bridge after denying their attempt at redeeming her. Despite being grievously injured, she gets the award, saying that it was "so worth it."
Season 2[]
In the episode "The Apology", after finding out that her skirt was up in class, revealing her rear end, an enraged Miss Simian wrongfully blames Gumball and Darwin for thinking it was funny and throwing a paper airplane in her eye (which was only meant to be a letter with a warning about it). Principal Brown lets them off the hook, believing they are good children, but Simian is upset. She is determined not to apologize and conspires to prove that Gumball and Darwin are indeed bad kids. First, Gumball gives her his report card, and Miss Simian takes them to Principal Brown's office on suspicion of a forged signature. Richard is called in to sign the suspension card, and to their surprise, his signature exactly matches the childish one on the report card. Next, Miss Simian plants a $100 bill at the library for the boys to find, thereby trying to prove they are thieves. Of course, Gumball and Darwin are overjoyed upon the discovery of the money. However, they both agree that the $100 bill is corrupting them, so they throw it away, and Miss Simian jumps out of the window to retrieve it. Later, Gumball and Darwin are having their lunch when they start discussing a rumored upcoming fight, and who's going to be in said fight. It turns out they are the ones involved in the fight. The classmates egg them on, but ultimately Gumball and Darwin resolve it peacefully. Miss Simian, the one who staged the fight, is devastated. A running gag is that, after each failed attempt to expose Gumball and Darwin, Miss Simian trashes Principal Brown's office in an ape-like fashion, and their relationship begins to strain.
After a brief, one-sided conversation with the skeletal remains of her father at the museum, Miss Simian makes one final attempt at ruining them. She enters the boys' restroom to spray graffiti with their names in order to frame Gumball and Darwin. It backfires on her, as she gets spray paint all over herself due to covering her eyes. Principal Brown is fed up with her attempts, and warns her to stop or else he will fire her; truth be told, he's sad that it may mean the end of their relationship if Miss Simian is really this kind of person.
Gumball and Darwin see Miss Simian and Principal Brown's plight, and they plan to commit a bad deed intentionally and get themselves caught in order to preserve the faculty staff's relationship. They enter the school and retrieve the spray paint can from the restroom when they get caught by Miss Simian. She goes into a bout of primal ape rage and chases them through the hallway. They manage to delay her by unintentionally slamming a locker door into her face. They proceed outside, where Gumball begins spraying paint onto Principal Brown's car and Darwin unsuccessfully throws rocks at the school's windows, aiming for Brown's office in order to get his attention. They get into an argument about Darwin's poor throwing skills before they are caught by Miss Simian. At last, she smiles, realizing she can finally take them to the principal's office, only to be surprised upon learning Gumball's true intentions. Remorseful, Simian quickly excuses the boys to clean up the car herself, and as the boys leave, she whispers an apology to them. As she goes back to cleaning, Principal Brown peeks out of his car and asks her for an explanation of why his car has been defaced.
Season 3[]
In "The Joy", at school, Miss Simian monitors the population of Elmore Jr. High to make sure everyone is feeling as utterly miserable as possible, noting how she "loves the smell of despair on a Monday morning." However, she notices that Gumball and Darwin are acting strangely happy (unknowingly due to Richard giving them a "WonderHug" in the morning). They're singing and laughing uncontrollably, skipping around the school, and even coughing up rainbow liquid. Simian believes there's an "outbreak of joy" and tries to prove it to both Principal Brown and the nurse, Joan Markham. She quarantines both Gumball and Darwin at the school clinic. Simian's suspicions and poor treatment of the kids begin to upset Markham, who eventually gets Principal Brown to intervene. When the Watterson brothers' hearts stop and restart at one point, Simian shows Principal Brown and Markham as proof. However, the boys break out shortly after and infect Brown and the nurse by hugging them.
The Joy virus spreads rapidly through the school via hugs, turning everyone into mindless, happy zombies. Miss Simian begins trashing her office in despair, but inadvertently discovers that sad music cures the infection. However, she's surrounded. She tries to sneak to Principal Brown's office while pretending to be infected in order to play the music on the PA system and fix everyone, but she reveals her cover by mistake and gets chased by the zombies. Eventually, she reaches the office and waits for the cassette player to rewind, but Gumball and Darwin are already inside; they hug her, thus infecting her with the Joy virus. She tries recording a survivor's tape but succumbs to the infection, laughing hysterically with rainbow liquid coming from her mouth and saying the story has come to a "happy ending."
In "The Lie," the bus crashes into Miss Simian's classroom and the students are excited about a holiday made up by Gumball in January by the name of "Sluzzle Tag." Brown declares the day off due to the holiday, but Miss Simian, in a parody of the Grinch, doesn't believe it's real and vows to prove that the whole thing is just a farce. By the end, Miss Simian manages to catch Gumball and Anais in the act of delivering a gift to Darwin and shows him the photo. Darwin screams and the whole town comes running, after which Gumball apologizes and admits Sluzzle Tag is fake, as he just wanted something to be excited about in January. However, instead of being angry, everyone is relieved. Darwin gives Miss Simian a Sluzzle Tag gift as well, and she redeems herself by laughing along with everyone else.
In "The Countdown", she threatens to expel Gumball and Darwin from school if they're late, and while Gumball and Darwin race to school with an on-screen timer, they find Miss Simian in her car. She chases them, eager to expel them, but fortunately Gumball (who broke the fourth wall) crashed onto the screen, stopping the on-screen timer and freezing time.
Season 5[]
In "The Grades", Principal Brown finds Miss Simian trying to smile in his office, though it's unnatural-looking for her. She's happy because she discovered Gumball failed a test during his days in kindergarten, which means he is forced to go back to kindergarten. Miss Simian kicks Gumball out of school and sends him back to kindergarten, but Simian eventually learns from Brown that she'll have to be fired if she doesn't get Gumball back at Elmore Jr. High, as she's one student short in her class without Gumball. She goes to kindergarten to convince him to return, but Gumball refuses because he's having fun. When he hears Miss Simian will get fired, he's even happier to stay. Miss Simian fake cries to garner sympathy, which, ironically, grosses Gumball out enough to agree to her request.
Back at school, Gumball needs to pass the test to rejoin the class. Since he's never studied before in his life, Miss Simian helps him devise several plans to cheat and ace the exam. On test day, Miss Simian watches Gumball take the assessment from outside the window in order to help him conduct their elaborate cheating plans, which include: writing the answers on his tongue, eyelids, toilet paper, and water bottle label, and having Miss Simian show a paper with notes through the window before attempting to play "mime." All their elaborate cheating plans fail during their execution, mostly due to Gumball's (and sometimes Simian's) incompetence. Nonetheless, Gumball takes the test honestly and actually manages to get an A+. While congratulating him, Miss Simian almost reveals their cheating plan to Brown. Gumball tries to cover for her but accidentally reveals that she cheated in 8th grade in the process. The episode ends in irony, with Miss Simian being forced to study in Gumball's class to complete her education while trying to cheat off of Gumball's paper, who rebuffs her.
Season 6[]
In "The Pact", Miss Simian's breath is so horrific that it manages to kill birds, poison the pool water, kill flies, and even disintegrate or kill several students. Principal Brown makes a deal with Gumball in which the latter will resolve this matter while the former fixes Penny's ugly laugh. Gumball tries to shoot a mint into Simian's mouth with a blowgun, but her breath turns him into a skeleton first. He becomes so distracted that he writes "Dental hygiene" for all his test answers. When Gumball eventually decides to just tell Miss Simian about her breath directly, she attacks him with a pencil off-screen.
Despite fulfilling his own end, Gumball later that Principal Brown has no intention of completing his part of the deal, but when he admits this out loud, Gumball hits the intercom button, revealing everything to the whole school and exposing him. Principal Brown keeps ranting without noticing Miss Simian and Penny standing right behind him, both glaring angrily, as Miss Simian heard his complaints about her rancid breath.
In "The Wish," Principal Brown takes Miss Simian on a date to a cliff, but he meant to go to the dump instead. When she asks him to say something romantic, he says "parking brake's off" and the car rolls backward and crashes. At school, Principal Brown tells Mr. Small and Mr. Corneille that he can't properly express his feelings to Miss Simian. Meanwhile, Miss Simian is upset that her boyfriend won't talk to her. She accidentally drops a box of items and yells at Gumball and Darwin to throw them away, and leaves her neck cushion behind. Gumball and Darwin offhandedly wish that Miss Simian would "shrink" and "soften up." A tiny gnome toy appears and says their wishes are granted.
When they find the neck cushion on Miss Simian's chair, they think she turned into it because of the toy. Principal Brown comes in to make up with Miss Simian, and the boys tell him she's transformed into the cushion. Before they can find the gnome to reverse it, the trash truck (with the gnome) drives off a cliff and catches on fire. Gumball and Darwin try to teach Principal Brown how to be romantic, and he practices saying "I love you" to the neck pillow.
Miss Simian tries to buy a ticket to leave Elmore but keeps getting interrupted by other people. The trio realizes the cushion is missing and chases it across town to the bus station. Eventually, Principal Brown says "I love you" to break the "spell," but the real Miss Simian hears it, prompting her to get off the bus before they reconcile with each other. Gumball and Darwin decide not to mention the cushion mix-up as the couple drives off happily.
The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball[]
In "The Teacher," Miss Simian gives her class a pop quiz. Because of the school's budget cuts, the students must write on toilet paper and can't even use all the letters of the alphabet, and when Gumball tries to use his phone calculator, Miss Simian confiscates it. After class, Gumball follows Miss Simian in order to get his phone back. He sees her take what appears to be a weapon from a trophy case and confronts her in the parking lot; however, he gets knocked out by the gate barrier. Gumball wakes up and finds himself in Miss Simian's car. Scared of what might happen, he lies that he wants to be a teacher. Simian laughs and says he's stuck with her while she runs errands, which will teach him about being a teacher.
Miss Simian suddenly attacks Sal Left Thumb on the street, so Gumball calls the police. After Sal fights back, Gumball passes out again from fear. He wakes to find Sal tied up in the backseat, and Sal insists to Miss Simian that the "thief" she's looking for is a big person in a tracksuit. They go to a pawn shop where Miss Simian questions Larry. Back in the car, Sal spots the thief as Coach Russo, who crashes into them. During the chase, Gumball ends up in Russo's car fighting over a bag, then gets thrown back onto Miss Simian's car.
They drive to a mysterious cave in the desert. When Gumball tries to fight Miss Simian, she turns on a light and reveals that it's her home. It's also revealed that the "weapon" was actually a flute she won in 10th grade. Miss Simian explains how teachers struggle with the shrinking school budget, so she sold calculators to buy charging cables from Sal, but Russo stole them. Miss Simian needed them for new laptops she bought with her own money for the class. Gumball cries and hugs her in appreciation. He then panics about the police tracking his phone, but Miss Simian reveals that Sal stole it. At Sal's place, police ambush him and blow up his hideout. Watching the explosion, Miss Simian criticizes the police for wasting the school's money on useless gadgets. She tells Gumball he'd make a good teacher but warns him of how the job rewards no respect, money, or support. Before she can explain why it's still beautiful in spite of this, Gumball runs off because he's already thoroughly convinced to never become a teacher.
