~ Misty apologizing to the Mane Five and redeeming herself by freeing them from the anti-magic bubble. |
Misty Brightdawn[1] is the tritagonist of the fifth generation of the My Little Pony franchise.
She is the daughter of Alphabittle Blossomforth, who was taken in by Opaline Arcana after she got separated from her dad when she was a filly and has been acting as Opaline's spy, and her adoptive daughter. After spending so much time with Opaline, she loses her memories of her past. Later on, after spending time with the Mane Five and Sparky, she realizes that she would rather have no cutie mark than no friends and becomes the sixth member of the group.
She is voiced by Bahia Watson in her first villainous role.
Appearance[]
Misty is a slender, sky-blue-coated female Unicorn, having freckles on her cheeks and her fetlocks, insides of her ears, as well as her chest to her stomach, being colored in a lavender-pink. She possesses mint-green eyes, small yet fluttery-like eyelashes, hale-navy eyebrows, grayish-purple hooves, as well as having a kinky, navy-blue mane and tail with teal-green highlights, with her mane being swooped to her right side with three cornrows on the left side of her scalp. As per her pony type, she possesses a long, bumpy horn with a sky-blue and lavender-pink gradient, complete with a pattern of pink swirls around it.
Before Chapter 4, Misty did not have a cutie mark. However, in order to blend in, she drew one of a butterfly with navy-blue outlines, complete with lavender-pink accents, as well as a small, lavender-pink heart on top.
As of Chapter 4, Misty finally received a cutie mark as reward for freeing the Mane Five; a butterfly with its body being colored in a coral-pink, with its dark purple and magenta-pink wings having magenta and coral-pink spots. To match her cutie mark, Misty also had her mane and tail dyed to a gradient of two-tone purple and hot-pink, with noticeable tips of coral-orange. Along with her new appearance, she now wears a friendship bracelet on her left hoof that Izzy made for her, which has the Mane Five's cutie marks printed on its pendants.
In Tell Your Tale, the teal-green streaks in Misty's previous mane color are more thicker, due to the more simplistic art style. During the episodes she appeared in, she wore a necklace with dark purple diamonds adorning the string. Her necklace also features a large, golden mirror-like pendant which, when opened, reveals Opaline's coat and eye color before letting out a mist with a holographic-like version of her in it, suggesting that it is a way to communicate with Misty.
When she was a filly, Misty kept her mane in afro puffs with a few coiled bangs peeking out.
Personality[]
Misty is first introduced to the audience looking unnerved as Opaline laughs evilly while spying on the ponies, suggesting that Misty is intimidated by her mistress. Despite this and her innocent looks however, she remains openly evil like Opaline herself, grinning evilly and joining Opaline in an evil laugh, showing that she always admire and wanted to be just like her despite receiving abuse and mistreatment from her. Misty is also shown to be a capable spy, infiltrating Maretime Bay by stealth and acting as a mole for Opaline. Unlike Opaline, she clearly does have standards as she was horrified after Opaline disintegrates an artificial mouse into nothing and decided not to capture Sparky anymore.
Misty is very timid and insecure when she's around the ponies, which is implied why she had no friends to talk to besides Queen Opaline. However when she's around with the Mane Five, she began to enjoy their company despite remains working for Opaline, but keeps her allegiance with Opaline in secret in order to avoid getting mistrusted. However, when her friends find out the truth, she realizes that she would rather have no cutie mark than no friends and risks everything to save them, earning her own cutie mark in return. She secretly becomes the six member of the team, but chooses to stay in and act like a double agent in order to help them stop her adoptive mother.
Quotes[]
“ | You were right about magic being in Equestria at the beginning. But most of it came from another pony, who wasn't a pony at all, but an Alicorn Queen! Her magic was too powerful. They were jealous of her ability and wanted it all for themselves! So the Princess stole all the magic from the Queen, and hid it away somehow. Then the Princess put an enchanted invisi-bubble around Equestria so the powerful Alicorn Queen could never find the magic or the kingdom of ponies, again!
