Mitchell "Mitch" Jenkins is one of the supporting antagonists of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes "American Dream" and "Sanctuary".
He was portrayed by Tyler Elliot Burke.
Biography[]
Past[]
Jenkins had a wife Carleen and a son Tyler. He frequently abused Carleen, who often called the cops on him but always dropped the charges both out of love and fear.
He was a white supremacist and particularly hated Muslims, blaming anyone and everyone of that faith for the 9/11 terrorist attacks, in which one of his relatives was killed. He vented his racism on white supremacist online chat rooms, where he befriended fellow racist Steven Cole.
"American Dream"[]
He and Cole broke into a restaurant owned by a Muslim family after getting Hector Ramirez, a former employee, to help them by giving easy access to the building. They proceeded to torture the family by raping the daughters and beating the parents, while threatening Ramirez when he tried to stop them. Their actions resulted in the deaths of the father and one of the daughters.
The NYPD's Special Victims Unit arrested Ramirez, but he refused to give up his conspirators for fear that they would kill him, too.
"Sanctuary"[]
Much later, SVU saved Ramirez from a threat on his life and blackmailed him into giving up his conspirators with him identifying Jenkins and Cole.
Jenkins was promptly arrested, while telling his wife to find him a good lawyer.
When brought in, he was confronted by the evidence against him but was unfazed and denied involvement though his racist and sexist comments to the detectives infuriate them, while justifying the attack because of 9/11 and how his cousin and her children was suffering. He then demanded a lawyer while insulting Det Rollins who nearly attacked him, though she told him this will go to court.
In court, Jenkins was greatly shocked when his wife turns on him by testifying, while revealing the blood on his clothes when he came in late. Jenkins nearly attacked Carleen, requiring court officers to detain him and he is hauled away threatening his wife.
He and Cole were imprisoned for life for hate crimes, rape, and murder.
