"Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1"[]
He initiated a brawl to escape and conspired with Dominic Gale, another inmate for his plan. He had a guard named Freddie Vaughn escort him for his day in the yard and on the way to his cell, he and his conspirator put the plan into effect by lunging at one another, resulting in a riot that spread across the facility. During the chaos, Trent and his partner subdued Vaughn and another guard, stole their uniforms while beating them until they were unrecognizable, so they'd be found by LAFD who promptly took one guard out of the prison. Trent and his associate masqueraded as the guards before getting in the ambulance with Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz.
After the LAFD discovered the ruse, they tried to contact Buckley and Diaz, who were made aware after Trent and his partner revealed themselves and held them at gunpoint. Trent thanked them for the ride, as he waited over a decade to get out of the prison. The prisoners stopped the ambulance and took the firefighters wallets, learning their names and residences with Trent even using the picture of Eddie's young son to keep him compliant otherwise harm will befall him. They told the pair they had a destination, and they'd allow the firefighters to help the injured guard because his death would throw a wrench in their plan.
The escapees had the firefighters take them to a hospital, saying they needed to help the guard. Gale and Buckley took the guard inside, while Trent was left with Diaz. Trent revealed the truth, his plan was to reach the hospital because his son was present and needed a transplant, which is why he sent Gale inside to take the doctors hostage and forced the operation. Diaz assumed the plan was to move his son up the list, though Trent revealed his intent was to kill himself and give his heart to his son, shocking Diaz.
Trent revealed his background as a criminal, starting with his grandfather and how his son is the only one born from that bloodline to be a chance at redeeming it. He also states because of his sentence, he could watch from afar of his life and when he learned of the incident is when he chose to do good for him. At the same time, LAPD detained Gale and revealed their knowledge of Trent's plan to Buckley. They then moved to detain Trent. Surrounded by LAPD, Trent voiced how he still has one plan to help his son. He told the cops that'd he come out with Eddie and once out he told him not to let his son know it was him. He then shot himself in the head, with Eddie quickly doing compression to keep his heart beating to get to Nolan. The heart is saved, though there were regulations of a convicted killer like Trent giving his heart but LAPD were able to circumvent it and the transplant was successful.
