Mitchell Wilson is the main antagonist of the 2021 comedy drama film Moxie. He is a popular but misogynistic and arrogant jock at Rockport High School. However, through the course of the film, his true nature as a loyal boyfriend revealed.
He was portrayed by Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Biography[]
In the English class of main protagonist Vivian Carter, teacher Mr. Davies introduces a new student, Lucy, an outspoken feminist. Mr. Davies begins a discussion of The Great Gatsby, which Lucy criticizes as for it's outdated and sexist themes. Mitchell interrupts Lucy and vindicates Gatsby.
Later, Vivian witnesses as Mitchell joke around with Lucy, spitting in her drink as a form of intimidation. Lucy reports Mitchell to Principal Shelly, who brushes off her concerns. The next day at school, an incident happens that Mitchell had involvement in.
In response, Vivian becomes inspired by her feminist mother Lisa and starts "Moxie", a zine aimed at calling out the unfair treatment of girls at the school, and empowering them to come forward with their issues. Vivian befriends Lucy, as well as a group of other girls who have been put down, but her best friend Claudia is reluctant to get behind the movement and it causes a rift between them. Mitchell also takes notice of the movement and begins joking around with the girls.
After Mitchell wins an athlete award over the girls' candidate, Kiera, thanks to Shelly giving him advice for his campaign, Vivian is demoralized and winds up stealing Shelly's principal award. Shelly attempts to shut down Moxie. Claudia, Vivian's best friend takes the fall and is suspended.
At her lowest point, Vivian receives a note from an anonymous girl who claimed to have been raped the previous year. Vivian gets Moxie supporters to stage a walk-out in support of the girl. The majority of students do so, and Vivian reveals to have started Moxie. Emma comes forward as the girl who wrote the note, stating that Mitchell raped her. She stands up and reveals to everyone that Mitchell raped her in her own room.
Mitchell does not participate in the walkout. He is last seen looking worried when the principal asks him to follow her..
