Mitsuo is a minor antagonist in the anime/manga series Parasyte. He is the ex-boyfriend of Kana Kimishima and a member of Yano's gang, who frequently picks fights with others over petty reasons. While initially a challenge to Shinichi Izumi, his danger quickly diminishes after Shinichi fuses with Migi, and so he ultimately proves to be more of a nuisance than a threat.
He is voiced by Kenichiro Ohashi in the Japanese version of the anime and Scott Gibbs in the English version, the former of whom also voices Phinks.
Appearance[]
In the manga, Mitsuo is a large muscular young man, who has black hair slicked back via hair gel and a strong jaw line. He wears a buttoned shirt with a collar.
In the anime, his appearance is significantly altered. He is a slim young man with brown hair and a stubble on his chin. He wears a black hooded jacket inside a red mantel, and a dark-gray skullcap.
Personality[]
Mitsuo is easily aggravated and quick to start fights over the tiniest of things. He's not above acts of assault and is once caught by Shinichi attacking a defenseless student. He doesn't seem to be very bright, as he'll pick a fight with someone even when it's clear to everyone that he's in over his head. He also tends to hold grudges, as shown when he couldn't let go of the fact that Shinichi beat him and attempted to come after him again with some of his gang members.
Despite his brutish behaviour, he is shown to deeply care for his ex-girlfriend Kana, as shown when he was crying at her funeral and attacked Shinichi, blaming him for her death since he couldn't protect her. His feelings were hurt when Kana said she no longer cared for him and that he needs to leave her alone, accusing him of following her around like a puppy dog. However, his claim that Kana has to give up on Shinichi due to him already having a girlfriend is ultimately well-placed, as her inability to let him go is precisely what gets her killed.
