Biography[]
Mitsuru is first introduced by Kirie, who is narrating the story, as one of her classmates, Kirie explains how Mitsuru has a crush on her, and from some time, Kirie has been trying to avoid him. When Kirie goes to a graveyard with her friend Shioho, Mitsuru suddenly jumps out from behind one of the tombstones to scare Kirie and Shioho. The both take him to task for trying to win over Kirie's affections in this manner, despite her already having a boyfriend. Nonetheless, Mitsuru is certain that he can still win Kirie over.
For the next couple of days, Mitsuru would continue to stalk Kirie, hoping to win her affection, even at one point going over to her house to call her and declare his love for her. The next day, Mitsuru sends a package to Kirie, and Kirie confronts him to tell him to stop stalking her, and to not give her any more packages. Mitsuru, feeling rejected by Kirie, tries to once again gain her affection, this time by running into traffic, effectively killing himself when he gets stuck in one of the car's wheels. Kirie then attends Mitsuru's funeral, mourning his death.
Back at home, Kirie decides to open Mitsuru's package, and finds out that it is an actual jack-in-the-box. Kirie decides to call Shuichi, concerned about the gift that Mitsuru had given her. When Shuichi tries to assure Kirie that she was not at fault for Mitsuru's death, the jack-in-the-box starts talking to her, stating that Mitsuru will now go after Kirie out of revenge for rejecting her.
Kirie and Shuichi then go back to the graveyard at night, with Shuichi intending to drive a stake into the heart of Mitsuru's corpse before he can attack Kirie. After digging his grave, Mitsuru's corpse then proceeds to attempt to attack both of them by making large jumps across the graveyard. While doing this, Mitsuru's body continually falls apart, with even his intestines spilling out. When Mitsuru loses both of his legs, Kirie and Shuichi are at first relieved that Mitsuru is gone for god, but Mitsuru then lunges towards them again, and the legs are replaced with a large spring, a suspension spring from the car that ran him over. After failing to attack them, Mitsuru finally dies after falling face first onto the ground, causing the spring to detatch from his body.
