The Mnggal-Mnggal was a fictional creature introduced in Lucasfilm's Star Wars Expanded Universe in the roleplaying game supplement The Unknown Regions.
This terrifying and enigmatic entity was well-known throughout the Unknown Regions as a sentient, shape-shifting organism that functioned like a viral infection, capable of overtaking and controlling the bodies of those it infected. The Mnggal-Mnggal operated as a collective consciousness, with every part of it interconnected and sharing the same mind. Its essence was dispersed across the galaxy, allowing it to take control of any being that encountered it.
Description[]
Mnggal-Mnggal's primary desire was for control, and it sought to extend its influence and presence across as many worlds as possible. When feasible, it would destroy entire planets, as it had done with Mugg Fallow, but it also found amusement in the torture and killing of other sentient beings.
Mnggal-Mnggal took pleasure in tormenting and devouring other beings, seemingly thriving more on their suffering than on any nourishment their bodies provided. By using its ability to possess others, it created horrific scenarios, such as repeatedly reuniting a grieving mother with the reanimated corpse of her child. It manipulated beings by toying with their emotions, convincing them to make deadly choices like opening a ship's airlocks or disabling perimeter fences.
In its natural form, Mnggal-Mnggal communicated in a dreamy, poetic manner, often using verses, metaphors, and riddles. Due to its ancient existence, it also spoke in forgotten languages and used outdated forms of speech. Though it claimed to know stories about the Celestials, Rakata, the origins of the Jedi Order, and even the current schemes of galactic rulers, as well as the locations of lost treasures and answers to ancient mysteries, many believed that every word it uttered was a lie.
Powers and Abilities[]

- Hive Mind: Mnggal-Mnggal functioned with a unified consciousness, where every part of it was aware of the thoughts and actions of all other parts.
- Infection and Control: It could invade living beings, taking over their bodies and transforming them into zombie-like creatures under its command. The original consciousness of the infected being was usually suppressed or destroyed.
- Shapeshifting: Mnggal-Mnggal had the ability to assume different forms based on the hosts it controlled, ranging from humanoid shapes to more monstrous and grotesque figures.
Abilities[]

Trivia[]
