The synopsis of Moby, the "baddie" mer-pup from PAW Patrol.
Past[]
Most of Moby's past is unknown; despite this, however, what is known is enough to get a glimpse of what his past was like. Moby has been living his whole life in Puplantis with the other mer-pups. At some point in his life, he met McSquidly, a squid whom he befriended. At another point, he became interested in technology and developed a hobby of inventing things.
The mer-pups constantly have lively activities and celebrations, which annoy him. Whenever he attempted to tell them what to do (probably about the constant activities), the mer-pups would never listen. They also would force him to participate in their activities at times throughout his life (which is strongly implied). This impeded Moby from living a peaceful life, causing him to become unhappy and develop hatred toward the mer-pups.
PAW Patrol[]
Aqua Pups: Pups Save a Floating Castle[]
Moby is first seen at the celebration of the mer-moon with the other mer-pups. He was unhappy to be present, much to Rocky's and Zuma's confusion. McSquidly had given Moby a set of headphones to block out the sound of the singing and celebrating. While Skye and Coral were singing, Moby and McSquidly left the celebration. As they were swimming along, Moby was not paying attention to where he was going, as he was headed for some sea traffic. McSquidly tried to warn him about this, but he couldn't hear him because he was still wearing his headphones. Though McSquidly was initially able to save Moby, they both ended up being caught in the sea traffic, forcing Skye and Coral to save them both. Moby reluctantly thanked them before swimming away with McSquidly.
Later, as Coral was showing the PAW Patrol around Puplantis, they come across Moby, who was unwillingly swim dancing with another mer-pup. Coral mentions that while he is not a fan of celebrations, he does love his inventions. This caught Rocky's and Zuma's interest and swam up to meet him. Zuma congratulates Moby for having a great squid friend. He then asks Moby for a paw-bump. He was confused about it, so Rocky decides to teach Moby how to do one. When Zuma bumped Moby's paw, it sparkles, which surprised Moby. A puzzled Rocky shyly decides that they maybe could play later, and swims away with Zuma. Suddenly, Moby started to sparkle and spin rapidly as was being raised to the surface of the water, with McSquidly sitting on his head. Once he reached the surface, he realized that he could speak. He then spots a nearby island, which was covered with junk. Delighted, Moby swims to shore and realizes that he had been turned into a land pup. He figured that it must have been because of the paw bump. Being very happy to be there, he starts to think of all the cool things he could build with them.
Moby had built his own gear, which has a pup-pack that contains two grabber claws that he calls "tentacle arms" that don't stick to things unlike McSquidly's. When McSquidly gets his tentacle stuck to a circuit board; Moby, using one of the grabber claws, grabs it, and uses it to finish building his squid-like mini-sub called the "Moby Mobile". After doing so, he points out that the island is too tiny and admits that he misses Puplantis, but wishes that there would be no more mer-pups with their singing and celebrating. He then sees McSquidly trying to unstick a floaty from his tentacle and, in the process, inadvertently flinging himself into the water and landing on the floaty, which inflated immediately afterwards. This gives Moby the idea of floating Puplantis on the water, which would force the mer-pups to leave. Wondering how he would be able to accomplish this, McSquidly points to a wooden box full of floaties, giving Moby the idea of using them to raise Puplantis toward the surface. He believed that this would be the way to get rid of the mer-pups and have the city for himself without any singing and celebrating, calling himself a genius.
Moby puts his plan, which he calls his genius plan, into work. He and McSquidly had boarded the Moby Mobile, and Moby uses the sub's tentacles to place the floaties under Puplantis, holding them in place with ropes. While doing so, he gets annoyed by all the singing from the mer-pups, finding it hard to focus on his plan. When he finishes, he inflates all of the floaties, causing Puplantis to start rising. As it was rising, Moby thinks about how he'll be able to steer the city once it reaches the surface. He then quickly spots a nearby sunken ship and decides to use the propeller and attach it to Puplantis. Meanwhile, one of the mer-pups went to inform Coral and the PAW Patrol about the situation via bubble barks.
As Puplantis was floating away, the PAW Patrol, now the "Aqua Pups" and with Coral as the new member, arrive to help. This frustrated Moby, as he thought that the mer-pups would just leave when Puplantis started to shake. After the Aqua Pups saved the mer-pups from the rising city, Ryder discovers that Moby was using floaties to rise Puplantis. He commands Rocky to use his saw-fish vehicle to cut the city free. As he was doing so, Moby uses ink from his vehicle to stop Rocky from cutting the ropes and the floaties. Though having lost the city, Moby still had the castle. He then plans to, once the castle reaches the surface, use his remote to crank up the propeller and sail Puplantis to a place far away. As the castle was nearing the surface, the Aqua Pups try to go after Moby, but he managed to slow them down with the ink and he and McSquidly went inside the castle. Right after Coral led the team out of the ink using bubbles from her seahorse vehicle, Chase spots Moby inside Puplantis. They all went inside to stop him. As Moby and McSquidly were trying to get away, Skye and Coral take a shortcut and quickly catch up to him. Coral tries to tell him that Puplantis is for all of the mer-pups, but he answers that with his remote it is not, and escapes through a window with McSquidly on him. The Aqua Pups soon followed, and Coral tells Moby that he is in "bubble trouble". She then uses her bubble launcher to launch a bubble toward Moby, but he pops it with his grabber claw. Immediately afterward, the castle reaches the surface of the water. Using his remote, Moby cranks the propeller and sends the Aqua Pups overboard. This almost sent him overboard as well, but McSquidly, who was still holding on to Moby, managed to hold on to a part of the castle, sending them both to the top. As Moby was trying to use his remote to get away, he unintentionally makes Puplantis jolt. As a result, the remote flies out of his paws. McSquidly tries to grab it but ends up accidentally breaking it, leaving them both stranded on a runaway floating Puplantis heading for Adventure Beach. Chase, Marshall, Zuma, Rocky, and Rubble try to use their vehicles to stop the castle, with Skye and Coral successfully stopping the propeller. However, the castle's momentum was still taking it toward the beach. Ryder then uses the Whale Patroller to send Puplantis away from land. The sudden change in direction sent Moby and McSquidly overboard. Having lost the castle, Moby tries to get to shore, but a mer-pup suddenly emerges from the surface and turns him back into a mer-pup. Defeated, Moby swims away with McSquidly and points out that he can at least still speak.
Aqua Pups: Pups Save a Mer-Race[]
At the island full of junk, Moby, who was with McSquidly, was putting some wheels he added to his Moby Mobile for the land duration of the Puplantis Adventure Bay Friendship Race to the test. The winner of the race becomes king or queen of Puplantis for the day and gets to make one wish, so he planned on canceling the after-race party once he wins the race and becomes king. The pup then drives his vehicle to a ramp, transforms his Moby Mobile into a sub, and dives into the ocean. As he dove in, McSquidly, who was holding on to Moby's face, hitches a ride on the sub. Moby then tells McSquildy that he is going to help him win with his new invention called ink traps. He tells him to place them around the race course, starting with the old shipwreck. Afterwards, they make their way to the starting line.
Later, when Ryder was explaining the race course to the racers (Cap'n Turbot, Mayor Goodway (who was with Chickaletta), Kelp (who was in a bubble), Coral, and Skye) at the starting line, Moby arrives and reveals his plan and wish to cancel the after-race party and every party afterwards, to which Coral replies that that is not very nice and that he could do other things if he becomes king. Moby shrugged it off and calls for the race to begin. Ryder does the three-command start and the racers take off. As Moby was about to take off, McSquidly accidentally gets on the windshield of the Moby Mobile, blocking Moby's view and causing him to do loops. As the other racers get ahead, McSquidly gets off the windshield to the top of the sub. Moby rapidly gets ahead off all the racers except for Coral. Seeing that her sub is faster than his, he tells McSquidly press the button that would make the ink trap inside the engine of Coral's sub to go off (earlier, before the race began, Moby told McSquidly to sneak an ink trap into the engine). The ink trap damaged the engine, causing the sub to crash. Ryder and Rocky went to see what went wrong. When checking the engine, Rocky pulled out a foreign object, which made Ryder suspicious of what happened. Due to the engine not being to bad, Rocky was able to fix it with ease, allowing Coral to quickly re-enter the race. A while later, Cap'n Turbot was catching up to Moby, who was approaching the old shipwreck. Moby then tells McSquidly to make the ink traps in the shipwreck go off. The cloud off ink blocked Cap'n Turbot view, causing him to crash his diving bell into the wreck. This trapped him underneath it, also trapping a baby dolphin inside the wreck. Moby sarcastically says that it was an unfortunate accident and continues to race. It wasn't long before Skye arrived at the scene. She tried using her sub's harness to lift the wreck, but it was too heavy for her, so Cap'n Turbot decides to call Ryder for a rescue.
Soon afterwards, Coral arrives and tries to use her sub to help Skye lift the wreck off the diving bell; however, it was still too heavy for the two of them. Ryder, Rocky, and Zuma arrive to help. Zuma uses his sub's claws to help Skye and Coral lift the wreck, while Rocky uses his sub's saw to free the dolphin. Cap'n Turbot informs Ryder that he got confused by a cloud of ink and that he is out of the race, as his diving bell is "decently dinged and done for". This reminded Skye and Coral of the race, as they had forgotten about it. Ryder then checks where the other racers are and tells Skye and Coral that they still have a chance to win. Skye thanks him end re-enters the race along with Coral.
As the racers were approaching the underwater cave, Moby sees on his sub's screen that Cap'n Turbot left the race, saying that he is going to win for sure. After successfully going through the cave. Moby commands McSquidly to drop the ink trap at the exit. However, the trap get stuck to the squid's tentacle, allowing Kelp to pass, much to Moby annoyance. As McSquidly was still trying to let go of the ink trap, he accidentally slams it on a boulder on the cave, causing the trap to go off and the boulders to loosen. Skye and Coral then pass the exit. Frustrated, Moby scolds McSquidly, saying that it was supposed to help them win and that he put them behind. With McSquidly riding on the sub, Moby takes off rapidly. Meanwhile, the boulders fall at the cave exit, blocking it with Mayor Goodway still inside. She tries to go back to the entrance, but the lights inside the cave go out, leaving her and Chickaletta surrounded by darkness. Meanwhile, Moby speeds past Skye and Coral, making them wonder how he got ahead, as Mayor Goodway was right behind them. Skye uses her visor and notices the boulders blocking the cave exit. She informs Ryder about this, which makes him think that somebody may be messing with the race. He then tells Chase and Rubble that he needs them. Meanwhile, Kelp emerges from the surface into land, with Moby following right behind him and overtaking him immediately. Coral arrives at Adventure Bay, followed by Skye. Back at the cave, Ryder, Chase, Rubble, and Rocky arrive. Rubble uses his sub to break the exit open. The Mayor then decides to leave the race as she is too far behind thanks to the accident. Chase had noticed ink on the boulder and tells Ryder that he doesn't think that the accidents are accidents. Ryder suggests to keep an eye on Moby, as the ink looks like what he used in the past. At Adventure Bay, Moby, saying that all the cheating is making him hungry, commands McSquidly to snag some food. McSquidly sees Mr. Porter with some pancakes and snatches them. After Moby ate the pancakes, which he found to taste disgusting, they arrive at the Lookout. As Moby speeds around it, McSquidly uses one of his tentacles to hold on to the Lookout to keep them from tipping over. Moby then says that they've got the race in the bag and that soon he'll be king of Puplantis and will cancel the big celebration forever.
As Kelp, Coral, and Skye were catching up to Moby, McSquidly points to a manhole. Knowing what the squid intends to do, Moby tells him that it's good thinking and mentions that he is having a blast and hopes their fellow racers have a "blast" too. As Moby drove by the manhole, McSquidly lifts the lid and places three ink traps in the hole. Once Kelp was over the lid, McSquidly springs the trap, blasting him into the air onto the roof of a building. Skye and Coral, having seen what happened, realized that Ryder was right about Moby planting traps all along the race route. Moby continued on, saying that he will see them at the finish line and that he is about to be king of Puplantis. Coral becomes worried that Kelp will fall off the roof. Skye tells her that she'll help him and to continue racing and beat "that cheater Moby" and to not forget what she has been telling her: breathe and have fun. As Coral re-entered the race, Skye flies to Kelp just as he fell. Skye, as she was using the turbine engines from her vehicle to keep him from falling all the way, contacts Chase and asks him to give Kelp a safe landing. Chase, along with Ryder, arrives and launches his net. Skye lets Kelp fall into it, popping his bubble car in the process, which forced him to leave the race. Chase tells Skye that she can still be in the race, but she decides that it's too late, saying that it's now all up to Coral. She then tells Ryder that he was right about Moby. Chase requests to stop him, but Ryder decides to return to Puplantis, as he has a feeling that Coral will surprise Moby. They all leave, with Skye flying Kelp back to the city. As Moby was crossing the bridge and thinking that he had won, Coral appears. Annoyed, Moby spills a lot of ink on the bridge. Coral, worried that she will slide off the road, panics, but quickly remember what Skye said. She speeds toward the ink patch, slides on it, and uses her momentum to boost past Moby, much to his surprise. They both then dive into the water and approach the finish line, with everyone cheering for Coral. Moby decides to place another trap, but McSquidly had ran out of them. Moby, having one more chance to win, orders McSquidly to stick a tentacle on Coral to pull her back and wind them forward. Just as McSquidly was reaching Coral, she spins her sub around, making him grab onto a real coral. Coral teases Moby, saying that he got the wrong coral. McSquidly grabbing the coral pulls them back, giving Coral the victory. Skye swims to Moby and gives McSquidly a blown up ink trap, saying that cheaters always lose. Moby blames McSquidly for making them lose and lets out a sigh. After Ryder declares that Coral is the Puplantis Adventure Bay Friendship Race Champion and queen of Puplantis for the day and gives her the trophy, Coral makes her wish to have the biggest celebration ever, to which Moby lets out a big "no!". Robo-Dog, who was in the Whale Patroller, plays some pop music with disco lights. Everyone, including McSquidly, starts to dance, leaving Moby to sulk in his vehicle, annoyed and saddened.
Aqua Pups: Pups Save the Whale Patroller[]
As the Aqua Pups were helping Coral and other mer-pups who were trapped in the library of Puplantis by a fishing net, Moby (who was with McSquidly) sees that they had left the Whale Patroller alone and decides to climb aboard. Being curious about the controls, he presses on a button, which closes the hatches. Trying to see if any of them shoot out treats, he tests out another one, which ignites the engine. A while later, still trying to find the treat dispenser, Moby accidentally makes the Whale Patroller go faster, knocking him out of his seat. He then hears the mer-pups singing, much to his annoyance. He pilots the patroller close to them, which interrupted the singing. Seeing the Whale Patroller moving confused the Aqua Pups. Chase uses his visor and sees Moby at the controls. Moby, having successfully stopped the singing, takes a moment to enjoy the sound of silence. He tells McSquidly to take control so that he could take a closer look at the now upset mer-pups' grumpy little faces. McSquidly starts driving wildly, causing him to crash on top of some buildings. Not wanting to wreck the place, Moby tries to get back at the controls, but McSquildy has his tentacles stuck to the wheel. As Moby was trying to get him off, the Whale Patroller crashes into more buildings before driving away from Puplantis. The Aqua Pups, after a mission briefing, climb aboard sea creatures to go after it.
After the Whale Patroller tore through some seaweed, the Aqua Pups continue to track it down. Moby was still trying to get McSquidly's tentacles off the wheel. Though he successfully got him off, McSquidly's tentacles stuck to him. As he was trying to get him off, he accidentally activates an alarm, which warned him that the Aqua Pups were following him. He tries to get away from them, but McSquidly's sticky tentacles were still on him, impeding him from driving properly. As it was driving wildly, the Aqua Pups manage to get close to it. In order to prevent it from crashing into some rocks, they all get to the side in an attempt to get Moby to turn the opposite direction. However, Moby, who had unstuck McSquidly's tentacles off him, knew that they were trying to make him turn; so instead, he sets the Whale Patroller at full speed. This knocked him out of his seat and made the Whale Patroller make a wild turn. It gets wedged between two large rock, though he managed to pull it free. After the team gets close to it again, Coral asks their rides to call their friends to assist in slowing the Whale Patroller down. They all swim ahead of it and successfully slow it down. Moby tried to get more speed, but accidentally activated the treat dispenser. Rocky then uses his vacuum to open the hatch and Chase uses his tennis launcher to switch the engine off. Robo-Dog helps Rubble get inside. Having used his claw arm to open the hatch, Rubble along with Robo-Dog climb aboard. He is surprised to see the pile of treats. Having apparently eaten too many treats, Moby emerges from the pile and says that he had finally found the treat dispenser, revealing that it was what he was trying to do all along.
Aqua Pups: Pups Save the Reef[]
Cap'n Turbot and Coral were taking pictures with some sea creatures by Deep Reef Trench in front of a sunken science sub that was right at the edge. When Cap'n Turbot leaned on the sub to pose for a picture, it wobbled. Coral warned that it could fall into the trench and wreck the reef, which is home to some fish. They decide to finish their photos far from it. Unbeknownst to them, Moby and McSquildy had been watching them from nearby. Moby took the opportunity to go into the sub to find some parts to improve his ride.
After Cap'n Turbot and Coral took a "shellfie", Cap'n Turbot thanks Coral for a delightful day and Coral waves goodbye. She was about to leave when she notices that the sub was shaking. As Moby searches for objects, he tells McSquidly to watch out for any "nosy pups". As he looks through the periscope, Coral looks through it from the other side. McSquildy quickly gets Moby to the periscope to show him that someone is there. Moby looks through it to see who it was when Coral shows herself as she went into the sub. It surprised Moby and accidentally causes the sub to shake, closing the hatch in the process. Coral warns him that none of them are supposed to be in there. He asks her to give him a good reason why, with her answering that he is about to knock the sub with them in it into the trench. Moby goes to the hatch and tries to open it. Failing to do so, he asks McSquildy to help him, but their attempts to open it are vain as the hatch was jammed. In the process, the sub wobbled. Fearing that the sub is going to fall, Coral tells Moby to stop and decides to call Ryder.
After Coral and Moby informed Ryder about what was going on, the Aqua Pups get ready for the mission. As Coral was searching for them through the periscope, she reassures a worried McSquidly that the Aqua Pups will be there soon. Moby continues his search for parts, saying that the longer they take, the more parts he'll take. He comes across something embedded within the sub's pipes. As he was trying to get it out, the Aqua Pups arrive. Rubble, using his grabber, makes an attempt to open the hatch. As he was doing, Moby, with McSquidly helping him, was continuing to try and get the object unstuck. It caught Coral attention, asking him what he was doing. He quickly dissimulated his intentions and replied, "nothing". Rubble accidentally breaks the wheel off as he was trying to open the hatch. Fortunately, on Ryder's command, Zuma uses his sonar and finds another hatch blocked by a rock. Rubble uses his grabber to remove the rock and open the hatch. Coral immediately calls for Moby and gets out of the sub. Moby, however, has other plans. He stopped McSquidly from getting out, telling him that they aren't leaving without the object he found. After persuading him, McSquidly helping him pull. Coral thanks Ryder for saving them, but the team realize that Moby and McSquidly are still in the sub. Coral calls out for Moby to get out as he and the squid slip away from the pipes. The sub finally topples over, closing the hatch, and begins sinking into the trench. Rubble, with his hammerhead buddy (one the sea creatures the pups rode on previously), rushes to the bottom of the trench, and uses his hammerhead vehicle to stop the sub from sinking all the way. With Rubble and his hammerhead buddy unable to push it back up, Ryder decides to use the Whale Patroller. With the help of the sea creatures, the Aqua Pups attach the Whale Patroller's long tethers to the sub. On Ryder's command, Robo-Dog pulls the sub out of the trench and sets it down far away from it. Ryder reopens the hatch just as Moby makes the last attempt to pull the thing out, succeeding this time, and exits the sub. The object that he pulled out turned out to be a can of fish food, much to his disappointment and disgust. Ryder decides that feeding their underwater friends is a good way to thank them. After feeding them using Chase's launcher, Coral thanks the Aqua Pups for saving her and the reef while Moby rejects McSquidly's offer of fish food out of disgust.
Aqua Pups: Pups Stop a Giant Squid[]
Inside the Museum in Adventure Bay, Cap'n Turbot, François, and Zuma are working on a new exhibit. The purpose of the exhibit is to teach the residents of Adventure Bay about the mer-pups and their culture. To mark the beginning of the exhibit, the mer-pups are preparing an extravaganza in which they will release their golden orbs into the air, where they will soar above Adventure Bay for the first time. As they were doing so, unbeknownst to them, Moby and McSquidly had been hiding in a nearby treasure chest. Upon learning about the extravaganza, Moby begins on what to do to ruin the celebration.
Cap'n Turbot brings out a chest containing the siren shell of the silver squid. When Turbot mentions that blowing into the shell will summon the giant silver squid, Moby gets the idea of stealing the shell and using it to summon the squid and lure it to Puplantis to ruin the party. After Cap'n Turbot and Zuma leave to greet Ryder and the pups (except for Skye and Coral, who were at the time helping the mer-pups) and François leaves to neaten the exhibit, Moby steals the shell. He and McSquidly then rush to the Moby Mobile and dive into the sea, but not before Chase, using his detective skills, tracks them down.
As Moby was heading toward Squidland, where the giant silver squid lives, McSquidly starts playing with Moby's golden orb. Moby notices this and commands him to put it back. McSquidly accidentally hugs Moby's face, causing him to not see where he is going and crash into the seabed in front of the entrance to Squidland. He than blows into the shell twice. At first it seemed to have no effect; but suddenly, the giant silver squid appeared, frightening him due to its enormous size. He tells McSquidly to tell it not to hurt them. The squid noticed Moby's orb and becomes fascinated by it. Giving Moby the idea of the squid taking the mer-pups' orbs, he uses the shell to lead the giant creature to Puplantis.
Ryder, Chase, Zuma, and Coral, arrive at the entrance to Squidland. They discover fresh suction cup markings from tentacles on the seabed. When they see that the markings go towards the direction of Puplantis, they rush to the city. As they continue on, they become confused by the fact that Moby and the squid are nowhere to be seen. What they didn't know was that Moby had the silver squid blend in to its surroundings and hide him and McSquidly. With the team having passed by them, Moby turns around to find a different way to Puplantis with the squid following behind. Meanwhile, Ryder tells Zuma to use his sonar to find them. Zuma sees that Moby got behind them, is on a different course to the city, and will get there before they will. As the mer-pups were about to release their golden orbs, Ryder contacts Skye, who was in Puplantis, and warns her that Moby and the giant squid are on their way to the the city and tells her to keep a careful watch. Just as she was about to inform him that she doesn't see them, Moby and the squid zoom right by her. She quickly informs him that the squid has just arrived. The presence of such an enormous animal scares away the mer-pups, inadvertently releasing their orbs. Moby blows into the shell and manipulates the squid to grab and play with the golden orbs. Just then, Ryder, Chase, Zuma, and Coral arrive. In an attempt to distract the squid, Zuma uses his lobster claws from his vehicle and starts to lead it out of the city. Moby notices some orbs rising towards the surface and blows into the shell, which lures the squid to the orbs. Just as Moby and McSquidly get out of the vehicle, the silver squid sees McSquidly with Moby's orb and takes him with it, also taking the siren shell. With McSquidly in danger, Moby gets back to his vehicle and goes after the squid. The Aqua Pups follow right behind him, who pleads them to help him save his friend. After Skye notices that the squid likes the orbs, Coral gets an idea. Using her bubble launcher, she blows a big bubble, with Chase using his lights to make the bubble shiny. It caught the squid's attention, dropping the shell and popping the bubble. Coral makes more bubbles for the squid to pop, allowing it to let go of the orbs and McSquidly to escape, with Moby, still worried about his friend's well being, swiftly going after him.
After the mer-pups thank the Aqua Pups for saving their city and their golden old release, they finally release their orbs. As they float towards the surface, Moby reunites with his friend, giving him a moment of happiness. Despite this brief moment, he becomes disappointed as soon as he catches a sight of the orbs as they rise above the surface into the air.
