Moe Szyslak is the main protagonist of "A Clockwork Yellow", a segment from the Simpsons episode "Treehouse of Horror XXV".

He is the leader of a London criminal gang who had it's glory when they were young. However, when one of his comrades, Homer, falls in love with a young girl named Marge who she persuades to not be in the gang anymore and rather live with her, the gang falls apart and Moe is kicked out, Lenny and Carl thinking his leadership would be useless. Years later, Moe is attacked by the same gang who kicked him out. Now deciding to return to his criminal career again, he gathers Homer, Lenny and Carl for one final crime, which involves them attacking Mr. Burns and his guests during an orgy in his mansion. He is a parody of Alex from A Clockwork Orange, the film it parodies.

Biography[]

In his young days, Moe was the leader of the Hoodlings in London, committing several felonies with his three gang members, Homer Simpson, Lenny and Carl. Their glory were achieved until Homer met a young female woman in a bar and fell in love with her. Persuaded by Marge to live a normal life outside of violence, Homer leaves the gang, causing it's downfall as Moe is later thrown outside the Big Ben building, as Lenny and Carl thought that his leadership was useless.

Years later, Moe is staring at his television, begging that he'll be good. The doorbell then rings and a Hoodling gang member, Kearney, tells Moe that there has been a terrible accident and that he must let him inside. Moe is unfazed by this as he was the one who invented the gang, but he suddenly realizes it was a diversion as Nelson, another Hoodling, appears behind him and pulls up his underwear before unlocking the door, allowing Kearney, Jimbo and Dolph to get inside. The gang then wrecks the house and beats up Moe, eventually hitting him in the head with a Shmoo statue.

Later, Moe tells Homer to have the gang reformed so they could achieve their former glory again, but Marge refuses to have Homer join the gang back, as they have a toddler, Maggie, to take care of. Ignoring Marge's protests, Homer agress and puts his eye makeup back on, wanting to be a man again. In the streets of London, Moe teaches Homer how to walk on the sidewalk, but as he does, a police car stops in front of him and Lenny and Carl run towards him, whacking him with batons. Moe quickly recognizes them and asks them to join the gang again for one final moment, having saved their bowlers for the occasion. Lenny and Carl agree and the gang is reformed. As they walk in slow motion style, Moe notices Homer walking very slowly compared to them and tells him to keep up.

The gang then write several notes of different crimes and throw them inside a bowler to vote on which crime they could commit. The note is chosen, which is "Home Invasion". Once the crime is chosed, Moe and his gang invade Mr. Burns' mansion, but to their surprise, a costumed orgy was taking place there. This leads to a fight between Moe's gang and the costumed guests. At one point, Moe opens the bathroom door, only to see a man holding a rifle towards him, causing him to close the door and return to the fight. Nevertheless, despite his bruises, he was happy that his gang had it's glory returned.

Trivia[]

  • As said above, Moe is a parody of Alex from A Clockwork Orange, a 1972 film made by Stanley Kubrick, who is well known for Full Metal Jacket and The Shining.
