The Mold Banbara is a Mutant Robot of the Neo-Human Empire Phantom Army and an antagonist in episode 9 of the 1973 Tokusatsu series Inazuman.
He is voiced by Setsuo Wakui, who also voiced Blue Hakaider in Kikaider 01.
History[]
The Mold Banbara was sent by Emperor Banba to kidnap children who showed psionic abilities and brainwash them to serve in the Phantom Army's "Phantom Youth" program. Among the children Mold Banbara kidnapped into the air was a prodigious girl named Eri, whom he later used to lure Goro Watari into an ambush. Goro managed to save the girl by becoming Inazuman and brought her back to the Youth League's base, but this turned out to be all part of Mold Banbara's plan as as soon as she was left alone, a brainwashed Eri planted a bomb in the Youth League's base.
Goro soon detected the bomb with his superhuman sensory abilities and safely disposed of it, but Eri had already been teleported away from the scene. However, Goro was able to use his psychic abilities to make contact with Eri and uncover the location of the Phantom Army base where the kidnapped psychic children were being held. Goro became Inazuman and went with the Youth League to rescue the children from the base, finding himself faced by Mold Banbara again. Mold Banbara attempted to trap Inazuman with his mold, but Inazuman was able to break free by using his electric powers to generate a large amount of light that caused the mold to rot away.
After Inazuman and the Youth League rescued all the children Mold Banbara had kidnapped, Mold Banbara created a tsunami of mold to attack the city and try to kill Inazuman. Using his Reverse Flash, Inazuman was able to destroy Mold Banbara's tsunami of mold and revert all the damage he had done to the city. Inazuman would then defeat Mold Banbara by using his electric strike to sending the Mutant Robot flying into the air, where he exploded.
