~ Words written on the walls in Mona and Bill's lair. |
Mona Lanius, otherwise known as The Painter, is the titular main antagonist of the analog horror, slasher, and crime web series of the same name created by UrbanSPOOK.
She is an evil serial killer who, alongside her partner, is part of a duo of serial killers dubbed "The Painters" who are responsible for the murders of many men, women and children across the United States in the 2000s. Mona is the brains behind the operation, responsible for recruiting her partner and paints the paintings of the victims she kills and leaves them for the police to gain traction.
Her actress is unknown as she was not credited.
Appearance[]
Mona D. Lanius, also known as "The Painter," presents as a peculiar Caucasian woman with pallid skin and a gaunt frame, her long, wispy black hair cascading down to her chest. She is typically seen in a white short-sleeve hospital gown or art smock and is entirely barefoot. Her face is strikingly emaciated, with hollow cheeks, wide, dark, lifeless eyes, a crooked lip structure, and a pointed chin. Her voice is light yet sharp, and she moves with incredible agility and smoothness, seemingly exerting control over the other killer.
Personality[]
Mona is an unfathomably sadistic, deranged, artistic, dangerous, and extremely evil serial killer who takes great enjoyment and pleasure in performing despicable and horrific acts of violence upon innocent people, including men, women and children. She is psychopathic and remorseless, performing each kill with extreme brutality and killing in such a way that implies she wants her victims to slowly suffer as she kills them. She is also a sexual sadist, performing disgusting, violating acts on two of her child victims to derive sexual pleasure, one of which she degraded by calling Cory a "f-cktoy", as well as forcing one of their victims to be raped by a horse they force-fed sildenafil (viagra), showing how limitless her depravity is and how utterly devoid of empathy and morality she is. She also seem to have a morbidly dark sense of humor considering the names of her paintings tend to be puns on the manner in which she kills her victims. She also seems to have a grudge against law enforcement, as she refers to Ian as a pig, which is an insult for police, and likely tortured Bill Collins to insanity.
Despite her psychotic nature and insatiable bloodlust, the Painter is a smart and calculating killer, always making up creative ways to kill people. Although her intelligence and sadism tend to border on arrogance due to her nature as a seemingly uncatchable killer who have successfully evaded the police for ages. This also causes her to slip up slightly and reveal that there's two killers by neglecting to clean their bloody footprints. She also seemingly has no interest in not getting arrested, as there have been seminal fluids belonging to either her or Bill in one of the victims. However when the police caught them Mona immedaly surrenders and tries to get Bill to stand down before he got shot showing that she knows her limits.

The list of the victims spans a count of more than 100 at this time. However, this is a list that takes into account what is shown in the series. This is a list of their injuries and their paintings, sorted by the order of when they are shown in the series:

Trivia[]
- Due to her outfit appearing to be a hospital gown, it's possible that Mona Lanius, the first killer, may be a mental patient that escaped into the public.
- It could be possible that the killer is homeless or living a transient lifestyle.
- Both the crawlspace IN THE WALLS and the graffiti on THE LIGHTHOUSE suggests that they were temporary dwellings.
- Before the confirmation of a second killer in FAMILY, it was hinted in THE CLUE.
- Sean Kane wrote the number 2 in his own blood amidst his assault.
- Many believed that since the murders were happening swiftly and professionally, and how unrealistic it was that only one person could be doing this, that the person behind these murders wasn't working alone.
- It is unknown how or where she gets the canvases and the painting accessories to create the paintings.
- It is also unknown how she paints the portraits of their victims depicting how they died, but it is possible that she creates the paintings before they violently murder the victim that they’re after, as a painting takes a lot of time to finish.
- Later in HELL, it was revealed that that paintings took place in an abandoned textile and paint factory, and have been their hideout.
- The first killer was confirmed to be a woman by a portrait on UrbanSPOOK's Instagram. A separate illustration of letters, hidden as a frame in MEAT, and using the phone number in the videos provided her name: Mona Lanius.
- Both her name (Mona Lanius) and appearance, is likely a play on the Mona Lisa painting.
- The last name 'Lanius' means 'Butcher' in Latin, which can be referencing her brutal ways of killing, and the episodes titled "MEAT" and "PIGS".
- The portrait was the final upload for Inktober 2023.
