The Monger Army are the primary cybernetic warriors of the Machine Empire Black Magma and the antagonists in Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. To grow giant, all of the Mongers have an inbuilt mechanism named the Expansion Program. Triggered when they are defeated at human size, multiple gears turn inside them which trigger a process to cause the steel in the Mongers' body to expand to giant size using their remaining energy.
Species History[]
To create the Mongers, a high ranking member of the Machine Empire Black Magma (usually under the orders of Führer Hell Saturn) inserts specific settings into a machine in the Iron Claw Castle. In doing so, the Monger Machine combines animal DNA, a concept or legend like a Tanuki or an object like a rose and combines that with a special super alloy to create the Mongers. The first Monger to be created is Grub Monger who is sent to attack the Peace Conference and kill all of its members during Black Magma's first attack on Earth only to be stopped and killed by the Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan which has been assembled to stop them. Initially, many Mongers serve under Zero 01 and her Zero Girls but, after the death of Zero Girl 01, they begin working under Amazon Killer beginning with the Giant Octopus Monger.
With the arrival of Inazuma Ginga, the Mongers become far stronger and harder to destroy which leads to Sun Vulcan developing the New Vulcan Ball. Ultimately, as part of Queen Hedrian and Amazon Killer's treasonous plot, they tamper with Fighting Monger which sparks a fight between Inazuma Ginga and Hell Satan which results in the latter's death and Hedrian becoming ruler of the Machine Empire Black Magma. The last original Monger is Mummy Monger but the last Monger overall is Lightning Monger; a mutated and lobotimised Inazuma Ginga created after being thrown into the Monger Machine by Hell Satan's ghost. With the destruction of the Monger Machine when the Omnipotent God's bomb destroys the Iron Claw Castle, no more Mongers can ever be created again.
