History[]
Background[]
The Mongol Empire was founded by Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan's granfather. Genghis started to unite hostile tribes together and form an army. In 1206 he organized the Great Kurulai, during which he announced the birth of the Mongol Empire. In 1207 he started to conquer countries, first being Western Xia, a Chinese kingdom. This was before he shipped out and conquered many Siberian Territories. At the beginning of 1211 he managed to expand the empire with successful wars. In 1220 he gained mare territories in central Asia. In 1226 he conquered India and Bulgaria. He died in 1227, but his legacy still carried on.
Two years after Genghis' death, his son Ögedei Khan was chosen as new leader. But he died in 1241, but the Mongols conquered many states before his death. Like Caucasus Mountains, Levant and Anatolia. Even Persia and Tibet, states in Georgia and states in Russia. Kublai Khan then became the Khagan of the Mongol Empire in 1260.
Ghost of Tsushima[]
In 1274, the events of Ghost of Tsushima take place. By the time they invade Tsushima, the Mongols conquered Palestine, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Thrace, Serbia, Latin Empire, Armenia, Georgia, the Holy Roman Empire, Syria and Alamut at the western borders. They attacked Vietnam, India and Sakhalin. As far as invading the Chinese Song dynasty and Goryeo. They were unstoppable.
Kublai wished for diplomatic peace in Tsushima, so he offered a deal. The residents of Tsushima surrender and bend to his will or die. Kublai sent an army consisting of thousands of men from many different nations. On hundreds of warships, on one of the warships was Khotun Khan. Kublai's cousin, Khotun was an intelligent man and strong warrior. Khotun in preparation studied the Japanese culture, beliefs and tactics.
The main objective was to first convince the samurai to surrender, but for that to be done, there had to be blood. The second objective was to build a base of operations on Tsushima and then go for the mainland. The battle started of Komoda Beach, where Jin Sakai and his uncle Lord Shimura, along with 85 other samurai fought bravely, they were obviously beaten. Lord Shimura was captured by Khotun and Jin was presumed dead. Until he was rescued by a local thief Yuna. Jin enlists the help of Ryuzo, Sensei Ishikawa and Masako Adachi to help recapture Castle Kaneda, where Shimura was being held, hostage. By the time Shimura was rescued, The Mongols had captured the entirety of Tsushima. As time went on Jin developed tactics that were deemed dishonorable and went against the samurai code to defeat the Mongols. Such as stealth, using poison, and using fear as a weapon. During the battle of Castle Shimura, Jin was taken as prisoner and was planned to be sent to Japan to face justice for his dishonorable acts in front of the Shogun. Jin escapes and keeps on fighting the Mongols. Eventually Khotun Khan is killed by Jin, which makes a large force of the Mongols retreat back to Goryeo. The remainder of the Mongols that were on Tsushima were hunted down by Jin.

The reason Mongolia was so diverse was that the Mongols had conquered so many states in the world. Those conquered states became a part of Mongolia. Thus Uniting almost all of the east. The main religion Mongols believed in was Shamanism, but other people who were a part of the Mongol Empire were Islam, Orthodox Christians, Buddhism, and Chinese beliefs. These religions were accepted by the Mongols since they didn't discriminate. In history, the Mongols that actually invaded Tsushima were mostly Chinese, Korean and Mongolian, the officials and nobility were mainly from native Mongol tribes.
