Monica (モニカ Monika) is a minor antagonist of Uchuu Keiji Gavan who appears as a central character in episode 28. She is a witch and a hired killer who is hired by Space Crime Organization Makuu to assassinate Gavan, but later redeemed herself by helping him deliver the Flower of Life to save Mimi's life before sacrificing herself which led to her being killed by the Hakkotsu Doubler.
She is portrayed by Hitomi Yoshioka (who also played as Doctor Polter in Uchuu Keiji Sharivan) as her young form and Teruko Iida as her elder form.
Biography[]
Monica was once a normal civilian who loved a space sheriff until hitman breaks into her house and held her hostage, but the space sheriff she loved has just sacrificed her for the sake of taking down the hitman. This kind of heartbreaking and traumatic events caused Monica turns herself into a cold-hearted and ruthless hired killer as she was and began to hate space sheriffs as whole. After discovering both space sheriff and hitman had died, she decide to set off and wandering through space as a hired killer.
By the next 300 years, Monica has grew older and was imprisoned in Planet Rhea, from the far reaches of space. However, she was encountered by Don Horror who proposed to make an alliance with her by offering her the Flower of Life to restore her youth if she agreed to help them assassinate Gavan, which she accepts. After her youth has restored, Monica traveled down to Earth where she lured Mimi with a Flower of Life to lure Gavan into Makuu's trap and kill him. While Retsu is fighting against the soldiers, Monica attempt to shoot a poisonous arrow at him with a crossbow, but only for Mimi to take the hit instead.
After following Monica to get the Flower of Life from her and fighting the Hakkotsu Doubler, Retsu went to confront Monica face-to-face and is easily overwhelmed by her until he was sent to fall down the cliff, but only for him to survive from the fall. Despite Hunter Killer praised her for her succeeded efforts, Monica reveals that she didn't agreed swore her loyalty to Don Horror and only did her job under his orders. Enraged over her betrayal and insubordination, Hunter Killer threw a sword at Monica to poisoned and weakened her, before imprisoning her in the cave and dropping a Flower of Life in front of her just as a taunting. However, Monica was later rescued from her imprisonment by Retsu out of pity. Retsu was about to use the Flower of Life to heal her, but Monica told her used it to save Mimi and warned him that he could only used the flower just once. In order to make up for her actions towards Retsu, Monica sacrificed herself to fight against the Crushers before she was killed in an explosion from the Hakkotsu Doubler's bone bomb.
Her death posthumously resulted in Retsu transformed into Gavan to defeat the Hakkotsu Doubler to avenge her death. He later fulfilled Monica's wishes by using the Flower of Life to save Mimi's life, thus freeing her from being poisoned until sunset.
