Monodam is a minor antagonist in Danganronpa V3, being a major antagonist in the prologue, a minor antagonist in chapters 1 and 2, a major antagonist in chapter 3 and a minor antagonist in chapter 6. He is one of the Monokuma Kubs who helps Monokuma run the killing game. However, unlike Monokuma and the other kubs, he doesn't want to see the students kill each other, instead wanting to see them getting along.
He is voiced by Koichi Yamadera in Japanese, who also voices Monokid from the same series, Gentle Criminal from My Hero Academia, Silva Zoldyck from Hunter X Hunter, Akihiko Kayaba from Sword Art Online, Beerus and Tenshinhan from Dragon Ball, Red Genesect, Alva, Hoopa Unbound, Baron Alberto and Marcus from Pokémon, Cat Mask Seller from A Whisker Away, Titus Drautos from Final Fantasy XV, Demon King Jackal from Ultraman and Kaiser Otto from Izetta: The Last Witch. He is voiced by Jason Wishnov in English, who also voices Nocturne from League of Legends.
Personality[]
Monodam is initially very timid and shy. He didn't have any speaking lines throughout the prologue or the first chapter. This was most likely due to him constantly being physically and verbally abused by his brother, Monokid.
However, things begin to change after the first trial, where he kills Monokid during the execution. He reveals after the trial that all he wants is for everyone to get along, and he thought that Monokid would get in the way of that. From then on, Monodam would occasionally mention that everyone, including the Kubs, the students and even Monokuma himself, should stop killing and just be friends. At the end of the day, all Monodam wants is for everyone to be friends, even if he has to kill his own siblings or usurp his own father for that to happen.
In addition to this, he is also much more helpful to the students than the other Monokubs. Unlike them, who aren't below mocking the students and are mostly unhelpful in the trials (with the minor exceptions of Monosuke accidentally helping in case two and Monotaro helping the students in case 4), Monodam is always willing to help the students, as long as it helps them become closer friends.
Biography[]
Monodam was initially created by Team Danganronpa, who wanted to add some more marketable side characters to the killing games to increase the merch. He is one of the 5 Monokuma Kubs, or Monokubs for short.
Monodam is seen with the other monokubs in the prologue, where he introduces the students to the school and tells them to go to the auditorium. When they arrive, he is forced to threaten them with the exisals, and when the kubs realize that the students don't have their "proper memories", he helps use the flashback light to restore their memories and create their characters.
In the first case, he assists his father and the other Monokubs into forcing the students into the killing game. However, when he is supposed to kill Kaito, he accidentally kills Monokuma. This leads to Monokuma revealing that he has multiple copies, and that the students can't get rid of him. He doesn't play a major role for most of the case, other than being abused occasionally by Monokid.
However, this changes when during the execution, he decides to murder Monokid, who had been abusing him up to this point, by pushing him into Kaede's execution. When questioned why he did this by the other Monokubs, he says that he did it to unite them, and Monokid was getting in the way.
The next day, when all of the Monokubs appear in the morning, most of the Monokubs don't seem to care about Monokid's death. Monodam starts talking a lot more, making his own announcements and becoming much closer with Monotaro and Monophanie (although Monosuke still doesn't trust him). When Monokuma introduces the new motive, he is the one who gives out the Kubs Pads, although he does mess up who he gives each one to. Later, when Angie called for the Monokubs, he is the only one who showed up, and he told the students he gave out the Kubs Pads before leaving.
During the next trial, he tries to make friends with Monosuke, but Monosuke is not interested, even when Monodam defends him when he accidentally reveals vital evidence. However, since Monosuke insisted on hating Monodam and not getting along, Monodam resorts to killing him in Kirumi's execution. After this, the other Monokubs start becoming scared of Monodam.
When the next day starts, he accuses Monokuma of treating his children like slaves and forces Monotaro and Monophanie to assist him in staging a mutiny. Monodam becomes the new headmaster, and he begins to become a lot more harsh with others, saying that they must get along, otherwise he will never forgive them. Later, he introduces the motive for this chapter, which is a Necronomicon that allows the students to resurrect one of the dead classmates.
Later after that, he decides to give the students the flashback light so they could gain more of their memories and so that they could come close to each other. However, Angie decides to destroy it, telling the Monokubs that they no longer need the flashback lights since they are not planning on leaving to the outside world. Not sure what to do now, he leaves the cafeteria.
When Angie's body is discovered, Monodam is initially rebuked by the other Monokubs, telling him that he failed to make the students get along. However, Monodam denies this, saying that murders are necessary to bring the students closer together. Soon after this, Monokuma comes back, telling the Kubs that he was just taking a small vacation and was actually still in charge the whole time.
When the trial begins, Monophanie and Monotaro start to bully Monodam since they are no longer afraid of him. Saddened by the fact that he will never be able to become friends with his siblings, he decides to commit suicide by jumping into Korekiyo's execution. Both Monotaro and Monophanie are initially saddened by his death, although they get over it soon after.
At the begining of chapter 5, Monokuma mourns the deaths of all of his children, although he quickly gets over it and calls them replaceable. At the end of chapter 5, he actually does replace them, bringing in copies of the Kubs to run the exisals. However, this version of Monodam does not have his previous memories.
At the begining of chapter 6, the Monokubs threaten to destroy K1-BO for blowing up the school. However, they don't kill him since they have to wait for the class trial. During said trial, the students have to find out who killed Amami while the Monokubs tried to prove them wrong. Despite Monodam trying to provide some rational arguments and him trying to keep the others calm, he is blown up by Monokuma when he gets bored.

Trivia[]
- While most people dislike the Monokubs due to them being unnecessary in the story and being a much weaker replacement than Usami/Monomi, most people agree that Monodam is the best of the 5, due to him having the most interesting personality and because he is the most rational of the Monokubs.
- Monodam is one of the two Danganronpa characters to be a reference to Gundam Anime, with the first being Gundham Tanaka.
