~ Monsieur Hood in karaoke. |
“ | Ta, da, da, da, da, da, whoo! I steal from the rich and give to the needy. He takes a wee percentage, but I'm not greedy. I rescue pretty damsels, man, I'm good. What a guy, ha-ha! Monsieur Hood, break it down! I like an honest fight and a saucy little maid! What he's basically saying is he likes to get... paid. So, when an ogre in the bush grabs a lady by the tush, that's bad, that's bad, that's bad, that's bad. When a beauty's with a beast it makes me awfully mad. He's mad, he's really mad. Now I'll take my blade and ram it through your heart! Keep your eyes on me, boys, 'cause I'm about to staaa... |

~ Monsieur Hood's song. |
Monsieur Hood is a minor antagonist in DreamWorks' 5th full-length animated feature film Shrek, the first installment of the Shrek film series. He is a thief and mercenary who takes the job of rescuing Princess Fiona, causing him to enter conflict with Shrek. He is a parody of Robin Hood.
In Shrek, he was voiced by Vincent Cassel, who also played The Asset in Jason Bourne, Kirill Semyonovich in Eastern Promises and Philippe LaRoche in Derailed. In the video games, he was voiced by André Sogliuzzo.
Biography[]
Monsieur Hood first appeared where he swings up Princess Fiona in a tree in an attempt to "rescue" her from an ogre named Shrek who is actually kidnapping her. He and his Merry Men sing a song about him, when he was almost finishing his song, he uses a sword in an attempt to kill Shrek only to be knocked out by Fiona as he ends up being knocked unconscious by a rock as his men get beaten-up by her as well.
He and his Merry Men later appeared at the end of the film after Lord Farquaad's defeat, attending Shrek and Fiona's wedding.
Video Games[]
In the video game Shrek Super Slam, he serves as an unlockable character. In the video game Shrek 2 he serves as a mini boss and an enemy. And in Shrek's Carnival Craze and Shrek Super Party, he serves as a playable character.
Trivia[]
- Despite the original character of Robin Hood originating from British/English folklore, Monsieur Hood seems to actually be French, which is rather ironic, considering the kingdoms of France and England were military rivals during the Middle Ages.
