Monsieur Scarlet is a minor antagonist in the 2019 role-playing video game Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling. He is a criminal who posts pleas for help on the quest boards to lure the explorers into his lair and then killing them via draining their life force.
Biography[]
Monsieur Scarlet was an infamous criminal who posted the pleas for help on various quest boards, waiting for the explorers to arrive. When they did, he then proceeded to reveal himself from his hideout and take them off-guard, draining their life force to the husk, killing them in process. Since no one saw his face, he had escaped punishment for many moons, since no one could have had any idea where he could be. Later on, when Levi took his request, making himself Scarlet's target, he had discovered that the false wall in the Golden Path tunnel was invisible for anyone who wasn't targeted, making Levi and Celia realize where Monsieur Scarlet was located. In the optional sidequest "Requesting Assistance", Levi requested Team Snakemouth's help in apprehending the criminal, where he and Celia had explained his way of operating and were planning to out-ambush him.
As Levi visited his lair, Monsieur Scarlet, under the alias of "Rogu", revealed himself and then started playing innocence, disorienting Levi long enough for him to lower his guard and allow Scarlet to knock him out, and then striking Celia when she tried to stop him. Once Team Snakemouth had arrived to their help, Scarlet was enraged by the fact that he was ambushed and proceeded to fight Team Snakemouth. In spite of his superior strength, Scarlet was defeated, but escaped before he could be apprehended, much to Team Snakemouth's chagrin. Despite the fact that he managed to escape the punishment, Levi and Celia were able to see his face and live to tell the tale, exposing his ways of operating to public and making the wanted posters, ensuring that no other explorer will fall into his trap.
