Moopsy
„
~ The one thing the Moopsy can say
The Moopsy is a minor antagonist in the show Star Trek: Lower Decks, serving as the main antagonist of the episode "I Have No Bones and I Must Scream".
Biography[]
Where the Moopsy originated is unknown. However, somewhere down the line, it was captured by Narj and put into his menagerie as an exhibit. Narj considered the Moopsy to be his favorite among the dangerous creatures in his galactic zoo. When he captured two humans, he was visited by Starfleet who came to set them free. As Narj prepared to let them out though, he noticed that the Moopsy got out of its cell, and he starts to panic as he tells Mariner and Ransom how dangerous the Moopsy is, telling them that the Moopsy is worse than the Swamp Gooblers as while they only gobble their victims, the Moopsy drinks their bones.
The crew witnesses this for themselves when the Moopsy drinks the bones of the Swamp Gobblers, prompting them to run from the Moopsy. At first, Ransom accuses Mariner of being the one who let the Moopsy out, but she assures him that she didn't. They then turn their attention to Narj, accusing him of releasing the Moopsy to kill them on the belief that because he is a plantman that he has no bones for the Moopsy to drink. Just then, the Moopsy gets into their hiding spot and drinks Narj to oblivion. Even worse, the Moopsy is in the ships main control room, which the crew locked it in. As the Moopsy hops on the buttons, it causes the ship to start plummeting. In order to get the Moopsy back in its cell and the ship back under control, Ransom has Mariner punch all his teeth out, using them to lure the Moopsy back into its containment.
With the Moopsy locked up and the ship stable again, the crew get ready to release the humans. However, Mariner notices that the umbrella on the walls is upside down. As the panel starts to come off, the Moopsy's door opens back up, prompting Mariner to close it before the Moopsy can escape again. It is there that the crew relise the ones responsible for releasing the Moopsy were the very humans they came to save, having released the Moopsy to kill Narj so they could profit off his menagerie. With this, the crew agree to leave the humans imprisoned in there.
