Winged mite-beast, bred large to catch workers who once tried to flee their tasks.

With its wranglers long dead, the Moorwing stalked the towers of Greymoor, feasting on passing pilgrims and tenders alike.

~ The Hunter's Journal on Moorwing.

Moorwing is a minor antagonist in Hollow Knight: Silksong. It is a massive mite-beast that was bred by the Citadel to capture any workers that tried to flee their duties in Greymoor. After the death of its wranglers, the Moorwing now stalks Greymoor in search of lonesome pilgrims to snatch up and devour.

Biography[]

A massive beast resembling one of the mite enemies, Moorwing was captured and served as an attack animal by wranglers. However, the wranglers have since died and Moorwing terrorizes Greymoor by swooping down from the towers of Greymoor to snatch passing travellers.

In her travel through Greymoor, a large beast stalks Hornet in the distance. Once she reaches the gate leading to Bellhart, Moorwing swoops down and attacks. It uses its body to swoop into her and slashes with its talons. It can also fire projectiles from its talons that swing in a circular motion.

Once Moorwing is defeated, it explodes and allows access to Bellhart.

After its death, the Flea Caravan takes its body and loads it onto their cart. They later butcher the Moorwing's corpse and roast it over a spit during the Flea Festival.

Trivia[]

  • Should Garmond be interacted with earlier, he can offer to assist in battling Moorwing.
  • It is possible to temporarily skip Moorwing. By collecting five Lost Fleas, the Flea Caravan will traverse to Greymoor, in Moorwing's arena. Once they relocate to the Blasted Steps, Moorwing will reappear once more. If fought in Act III, the Moorwing will also be corrupted by the Void.
    • By doing so, the Moorwing's corpse will be replaced with a Muckroach's during the Flea Festival.
  • Moorwing's difficulty was reduced in a patch that reduced the damage from its talon projectiles from two masks to one. It is one of the two bosses affected, the other being Sister Splinter.
