“ | I… hate… the… LOUDS!! | „ |
~ Morag furiously letting out her hatred of the Loud family. |
Morag is the main antagonist of Nickelodeon's 35th non-theatrical feature film, The Loud House Movie.
She is a member of a Scottish family who has been rivals with the Loud Family. She is also the former caretaker of Loch Loud Castle, a descendant of Aggie, the former friend of Angus and the Loud Family, and Lincoln's arch-nemesis.
She was voiced by Michelle Gomez, who also voiced Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatian Street and also portrayed both Missy (short for Mistress) in Doctor Who and Madame Satan in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Personality[]
Morag is a ruthless, selfish, manipulative woman who shows no remorse nor regards for others. This is shown with how she treats Angus like nothing when he treats her as a friend, uses the dragon Lela to destroy Loch Loud, tricks the Loud family into almost leaving Scotland, and then later attempts to kill them with Lela when they try to stop her plans (even though most of them are teenagers and children) This shows that she does not care for the lives of children either. In conclusion, she is undoubtedly an evil and immoral person. She also states she would be a fool to apologize, showing she only cares about herself. Despite her intellect she really was a fool to believe that she'd be duchess while being evil. Thus, she may have known the Loud Family's ancestors but she barely even knows Lincoln and his family, making a snap judgment of them instead of taking the time to get to know them like Angus did.
Despite her cruel nature, she does genuinely love her ancestor Aggie, as she looked up to her, and was horrified when her portrait was ruined.
Appearance[]
Morag is a short, round Scottish woman about the size of Lincoln and Lynn. She has abnormally large, dark, dull brown hair with graying streaks usually kept in a high bun and she has thick dark eyebrows. She wears a dark sap green coat over a dull blue dress with a white neck cuff, black fishnet tights, and red high-heeled boots.
During her musical number "The Duchess I Must Be", Morag wears a dark sap green duchess gown that consists of a white ruffled collar, a gold chain around her waist and a white lace on the neckline as well as on the ends of her sleeves. Her hair is stylized into horns. The change to her hair is also noticeable when wearing the crown outside of the song.
Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about Morag's past, except that she was a member of an unnamed Scottish family, and the descendant of Aggie, the castle caretaker before her who got rid of the Louds in order to achieve peace and quiet.
The Loud House Movie[]
Morag first appears when she gets out of the bathtub to get dressed, as she welcomes the Loud Family to Loch Loud Castle. After just a few days of interacting with the Louds, she's driven to the point of shouting out her hate on a far away cliff and digging up her ancestor's journal to learn her method of controlling the family dragon. When a special occasion was going on, she brainwashed Lela the dragon into causing trouble and usurped Lincoln. Afterwards, when the Louds were preparing to leave, she fed Lela trash to grow her into a full adult, and brainwashed her again in preparation to make her ascension to the throne indisputable.
When the Loud family was about to leave, she became the duchess of Loch Loud. Then she tried to destroy the Loch Loud village with the brainwashed Lela to drive everyone away, all while she was taking a bath. Before she could succeed in her plans to get her peace and quiet, the Loud family got in her way, luring her out so Lincoln could get on top of the brainwashed Lela and get the royal scepter and Dragon Stone from her.
Lincoln and Morag fight over the staff as they end up crashing into the castle. The Louds and Angus catches up to Lincoln, but Morag manages to get them surrounded this time with Lela. Instead of sending them away, she now plans to kill them, but Lincoln jumps in front holding the crown defending his family, knowing Morag won't destroy the crown while he's holding it. Lincoln runs with the crown to distract Morag as they get cut off from the Louds.
With nowhere left to run, Morag demands Lincoln to give her the crown, but Lincoln stands up to her and rightfully tells Morag she'll never be the duchess, no matter how many crowns she puts on. Enraged, Morag tells Lincoln he'll never be special, telling him all the stuff she overheard him say earlier to make him feel weak, but Lincoln tells her otherwise how wrong she is, as he makes fun of her using all the magic tricks Clyde taught him earlier.
Just about having enough of Lincoln, she was gonna order Lela to kill him but turns out Lincoln was distracting her so Lily could get the jewel and replace it with a burrito, having Morag completely outsmarted and Lela freed from her spell as she finally destroys the gem with her fire breath, ending Morag's reign over Loch Loud before it could truly begin, and destroying Aggie's evil legacy for good. When Morag foolishly tried to steal the crown directly from Lincoln's hands, they fell of the cliff only to be saved by a freed Lela, and for her to be tossed into a bush. After Lincoln crowns Angus the new duke, Morag climbs out of the bush to witness this, showing pure disgust towards everyone. Lela then carries Morag far away and throws her in a island full of noisy seals resembling the Loud family, much to her shock and annoyance.
In the end credits, it was revealed that Morag was rescued from the island by Angus with the ghostly Loud ancestors holding her strictly as the new groundskeeper as punishment for her crimes against the Loud Family and the people of Loch Loud, with Lela keeping a close watch over her, much to her frustration.

~ Morag's last words in the film as she is dropped on a island full of noisy seals by Lela the Dragon. |
"The Duchess I Will Be" Lyrics[]
“ | The time has come to play pretend And I'll trick Lincoln into thinking I'm his friend And I'll humiliate the boy, you'll see And drive the Louds away from me for good No, no, no, no, no! I must do more! So other Louds never set foot upon this shore To stop them coming after me I'll need the crown's authority For all to see The duchess I must be! It's what you started, I vow to finish The reign of Louds over this castle will diminish 'Cause if I want tranquility The duchess I must be! (evil laughter) This foolish town adores that boy But I will break their little hearts, oh, what a joy! And with the dragon on my side I'll take the duke up for a royal ride (What an embarrassing turn of events.) It's what you started, I vow to finish! The reign of Louds over this castle will diminish 'Cause if I want tranquility The duchess I must be! Is it wrong to long for quiet? Should I just let this family be? No-! The Louds will sail across the sea And then this town belongs to me The duchess I will be! (laughs evilly) |

Trivia[]
- Morag is Michelle Gomez's second villainous animated role, with Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatian Street being her first.
- Morag is the third Nickelodeon Movies animated main antagonist to be female after Siri and Coco LaBouche.
- Morag is the first character in The Loud House to be an actual villain before The Miller Family, Aggie, and Carol Linnaeus were introduced in the series, because while other antagonists are either bullies, jerks, scammers, or regular animals/predators, she poses as a legitimate threat, going as far as trying to kill the Loud Family.
- Morag and Carol Linnaeus are the only two The Loud House villains to try and kill members of the Loud family, as Dr. Linnaeus tried to murder Lisa and Flip, and Morag tried to murder the whole Loud Family.
- Michelle Gomez worked with David Tennant previously in the DuckTales reboot episode The Fight for Castle McDuck!
- Similarly, David Tennant portrayed The 10th Doctor in Doctor Who and Michelle Gomez voiced Missy, the female incarnation of The Master.
- When Morag starts walking toward a cliff, she passes a family of seals. This foreshadows her fate at the end of the film. When Lincoln and Lily defeat Morag, Lela traps her on an island filled with seals.
- Even though Morag didn't meet or interact with Lori's boyfriend, Bobby, she shared some similarities with him in the film. When we hear their voices for the last time, their last word is "NOOOOOOOO!" After that, they make an appearance during the end credits.
- Morag serves as a dark counterpart to the following characters from the earlier seasons and future movies:
- Lincoln: Morag represents what Lincoln would've become if he let his desire for peace and quiet, being in the spotlight, and any resentment he may feel toward his family for their behavior define him.
- Lori: If Lori continued being bossy towards her younger siblings and didn't show them proper love, she would've also ended up like Morag.
- Lynn Jr.: Morag acts as an even darker reflection to Lynn, representing what Lynn would've become if she let her aggressiveness, competitiveness, and cruelty towards Lincoln consume her.
- Lola: She would've been a lot more bratty and rude to her siblings if she keeps losing her temper most of the time.
- Luan: She would've ended up more ruthless and psychotic like Morag if her terrible pranks in every April Fools' Day have gone too far.
- Punguari: Morag is the dark counterpart of Punguari. They both have negative emotions, ancient artifacts of magical powers, and end up within their high positions, deceiving the main protagonists (Lincoln and Ronnie Anne) as their friends to accomplish their goals, and represent what said protagonists would've become if they let their negative feelings consume them (as Punguari acted as a dark parallel to Ronnie Annie and Maria). But while Punguari redeemed herself by helping Ronnie Anne defeat Ucumu, Morag refused to redeem herself, and tried to stop the Loud Family and Angus from ruining her plans. If Punguari didn't possess a change of heart, she would've ended up like Morag, and become more worse than before.
- Fifi Dufus: Morag is also the darker version of her successor, Fifi Dufus, representing what she would've become if she succeeded in sending the Loud Family into outer space. But Fifi is no better than Morag, as she also hates the Louds, albeit mostly towards Myrtle.
