Morgaine Le Fey is a villain in the DC Animated Universe.

She is a power-hungry Medieval sorceress and the mother of Mordred. She is also the arch-nemesis of Jason Blood/Etrigan the Demon. She first appeared as the main antagonist of the Justice League episode "A Knight of Shadows", and later as a supporting anti-villain in the Justice League Unlimited episode "Kids Stuff".

She was voiced by Oliver d'Abo, who also played Star Sapphire and Ten in the same universe, Tak in Invader Zim, Queen La in The Legend of Tarzan, Milena in Stolen from Suburbia, and Nicole Wallace in Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

History[]

"The Demon Within"[]

Morgaine Le Fey's mystical branding iron is used by Klarion to gain control of the demon Etrigan.

"A Knight of Shadows"[]

In the past, Morgaine waged war on King Arthur and invaded Camelot with the help of her lover Jason Blood, one of Arthur's knights. As her army of demons stormed the castle Le Faye and Blood share a a moment at which point Le Faye betrays Blood by poisoning him with her venomous kiss. During the ensuing chaos Le Faye leaves Blood to die, but he is found by Merlin who curses Blood for betraying Camelot by bonding his soul with Etrigan so that he may live with his guilt forever.

In the present, Morgaine Le Fey tries to steal the Philosopher's Stone and use it to convert London into a massive castle with her son Mordred as the ruler by partially brainwashing the Martian Manhunter and having him steal the stone for her in exchange for restoring Mars to life. However, J'onn sees through Le Fey's deception and crushes the stone, much to the sorceress' surprise. She tells him he has given up his only chance for happiness by he counters by saying "the price was too high." Morgaine withdraws with her son, assuring him that they have lost the battle, but not the war as the city returns to normal.

"Kids Stuff"[]

Le Fey leads Mordred to the Amulet of First Magic, the source of all Earthly magic, which had power exceeding even Morgaine's. Betrayed by Mordred, who snatched the Amulet and used it to banish her and all adults on Earth to a parallel dimension, she brokered a deal with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, changing them into children so they could return to Earth and fight Mordred. When they tricked him into becoming an adult so he'd be banished, he arrived in the parallel dimension where Morgaine told him that he had made a grave error. When the spell was broken, Morgaine changed the heroes back to their proper ages and then proceeded to take care of her son, who was now old and weak, having broken the eternal youth spell his mother had cast on him centuries earlier.
