Morio Anzai Title

Morio Anzai is the main antagonist of the Detective Conan/Case Closed episode On Location, TV Drama Murder Case (Lights, Camera... Murder in the dub).

He was a stagehand for Nichiuri TV, however a couple of events (past and current) would reveal himself as a hidden villain.

He is voiced by Issei Futamata, who voiced Sinduramon from Digimon Tamer and Alan Gabriel from Big O.

Biography[]

Morio makes his first appearance when made a insult joke about Taeko Mamegaki, where Yuji Shimazaki tried to rush him, only for Taeko to stop him, where Morio was explain that he wasn't talking bad about him. He also shows off his watch that he got when he went to America, which had a scary laugh with the watches' face looking like a skull, but notice that no one cared about his watch, as Morio left.

He later appeared again, this time in the wood where he was talking to Shingo Nachi, the lead actor as he was blackmailing him with what seems to be like photos, unless he agreed to pay for them, where unbeknownst to them, Ran and Conan were listening to their conversion (with Ran trying to get a autograph for Snonoko). He is then seen again leaving the Inn while Ran, Conan and Yoko (in disguise) saw him while hearing his watch. At that moment, Ran and Yoko notices Taeko face as she looked scared, but bush it off as she ran back inside.

Upon seeing someone on the steps on the shrine, Ran, Conan and Yoko discovered Morio's dead body on the group and had the file crew, Kogoro and Megure arrive to see the body. When Kogoro examined Morio's body, he saw that a word was written in his blood, that spelled out "Shinto Statue", which lead to him (in one of his failed deductions) claiming that Taeko was the killer, due to the death taking place at her grandfather's shrine, with Ran confirming that she, Conan and Yoko saw Taeko at the inn, just before seeing Morio dies.

Just then a police officer went into Morio's room, and he found the same photos that Morio was blackmailing Shingo earlier today, and upon a closer look, the photo shows Shingo and a mysterious woman coming out of a hotel. It was then revealed that the woman is Ritsuko Hagiyama, a fame actress, but what makes it more shocking is that Ritsuko is a married woman, meaning that Morio learned that Shingo is Ritsuko's lover. Ran even confirmed that she and Conan saw Morio and Shingo in the woods earlier today and Morio showed the photos. Which cause Kogoro to believe that Shingo is the killer.

Conan then pointed out a piece of evidence of the message, as it turns out that someone added more kaji to the message, as the original message said, "Leading Man", leading to believe that Shingo is the killer. Shingo revealed that while he did try to meet Morio to get the photos back, He was already dead and admits that when he discovered the message, he uses Morio's blood to add more to the message so that the police wouldn't pin the murder on him, but Kogoro still accursed him of being the killer due to the message saying, "Leading Man". Later Conan took another look at the message and found out something that shocked him to learn who the REAL killer is.

As Shingo was about to be taken away, Conan knocked out Kogoro and using his bowtie, revealed Morio was killed before 10 and the true message from before had more kaji added as the real message said "Mame", meaning the true killer is Taeko Mamegaki (making it the first time that Kogoro failed deductions was true). However, her grandfather still refuses to believe this, Yoko claimed that she couldn't be the killer as she, Conan and Ran saw her at the Inn when they saw what looked like Morio. Yuji admits that he was the one who killed Morio, and dressed like him to fool the others and Conan (via Kogoro) did say that if Yuji did kill Morio, why isn't he wearing a new set of cloths as there are splatter of blood everywhere but Yuji is still wearing the same cloth, while at the same time, Taeko is shown to wear a different outfit she wore from earlier this evening. As Yuki still tried to take the claim of being the killer, Taeko admits that she is the killer, even revealing that her expression was from looking at she thought was Morio leaving the Inn, not knowing until now it was Yuji. As Ran wondered why Taeko did it, she explains her motive (and revealing Morio as the hidden villain).

Turns out that when Taeko was a teenager, she became rebellious and joined a gang, after her parents died. As coincidence would have it, Morio was one of them. Taeko even revealed a moment of her life, the time where a expensive statue was stolen from the storehouse and no one knew what happened to it, that even her grandfather didn't know, Taeko then revealed that she was the one who told Morio about the statue and he took it. This resulted in the owner of the store to commit suicide for losing the statue, as Taeko wanted to tell her grandfather but upon seeing the corpse, she decides to keep quiet as she quit the gang, and even going back to school. However, years later, upon seeing him again, he threatens to expose her action of the stolen statue unless she pays him and when she went to the shrine to talk to him, she instead pulled out a knife and telling him to leave her along. Morio then charge at her, only for her to stab him in the chest, and killing him.

As Taeko fell to the ground, crying that her plans to marry Yuji is now ruin and will be never have a family, Yuji revealed that when he went to the shrine to see Taeko, he instead discovered Morio's lifeless corpse with the message "Mame" written on it, meaning that Morio used the last of his strength to write the message, and knowing that Taeko will be arrested. Yuji wrote the message "Leading Man", knowing that Morio also was blackmailing Shingo in order to say her. With both of their action revealed, Taeko and Yuji are last together as it is assumed that both of them went to jail, one for committing a murder and the other to being an accomplice.
