~ Moris to Yami |
Moris Libardirt is a major antagonist of the Black Clover franchise. He is the secondary antagonist of the second saga, and a major antagonist of the final saga.
He is a former scientist and magic scholar who once took control of the Diamond Kingdom's monarch for his own gain of studying artificial mana. However, upon being forced out by Mars, one of his former test subjects and victims, he resided with the Dark Triad of the Spade Kingdom.
Later on, he would eventually work under Lucius Zogratis upon his recovery, until he was converted into a Paladin, before being killed by Mereoleona Vermillion.
He is voiced by Masayuki Akasaka in the Japanese version, and by Chuck Huber in the English version, with the former also voiced Rades Spirito in the same series.
Overview[]
He is the former ruler of the Diamond Kingdom. He is also the archenemy of human Fana, Mars, Ladros and Lotus Whomalt.
He was eventually outcasted by Mars, along with his followers, after he and Ladros returned from the Witches' Forest. Eventually, he found himself working with the Dark Triad, learning that they happen to be Devil possessed like him and wishes to aid in their goal of releasing the devils upon the world.
However, he was revealed to be Lucifero's right-hand man and second host, taking over the Dark Triad's spot of the core adversary after their entire defeat.
Personality[]
Morris is a mad scientist, obsessed with obtaining power to strengthen his forces. He is a cruel individual with little regard of human beings, as he is very willing to subject children to experimentation, forcing them to kill each other as a way to make them powerful super soldiers. Otherwise, he would disregard them entirely and have them disposed, if they're unable to meet his expectations.
After being exiled from the Diamond Kingdom, Morris still continued his quest of obtaining power, only that this time, he's taken the opportunity to cooperate with the Dark Triad, as he believes they share common interests in their goals.
Biography[]
Past[]
Very little is known about Morris' past. What is known is that he was born blind, but in exchange, he was "gifted" with the powers of a devil, becoming a devil host. Morris would later on become a Magic Scholar in and he would take over the Diamond Kingdom by controlling its king, thus becoming the kingdom's de facto ruler.
Over several years, Morris ran a series of experiments to bolster the power of Diamond Kingdom mages. During one of them, he reconstructed Ladros (who was born without mana, just like Asta) into a powerful mage who could absorb, store, and release large amounts of mana.
After another trial, Morris embeds mage stones into Mars and pieced together his grimoire with Fana's. When Fana revived thanks to her phoenix-like powers, Morris performed the same experiment on her. However, seeing Fana no longer improved, Morris heartlessly deserted her.
The Witches' Forest Arc[]
After the failed invasion of Kiten, Lotus Whomalt returns to the Diamond Kingdom and informs Morris and the new generation of Eight Shining Generals about the Golden Dawn squad's abilities. Sometimes afterwards, Morris was banished from the Diamond Kingdom by Mars.
Spade Kingdom Raid Arc[]
Upon the invasion of Zenon Zogratis inside the Diamond Kingdom with half a year after Asta's trial, Morris, Lotus and some of the Eight Shining Generals joined the Dark Triad's service. He designed mobile fortress known as Candelos to intrude other places, enslave the Spade Kingdom citizens and drain their magic power.
After Dante Zogratis' defeat, Morris began treating Dante's injury and enhacing his body, with Zenon overseeing the progress. Morris stated that in spite of Mars' rebellion that resulted in his banishment, he was delighted to focus on his researches under the Dark Triad. He then gleefully reported to Zenon that other works ran smoothly, including the preperation of an artificial Demon God (which looked similar to what Licht had transformed into) as well as the Tree of Qliphoth's preperation, whilst Lotus stood beside him, unnerved.
Soon, Morris overwatched the Spade Kingdom's capital with his monitor, before informing Zenon that the Spade Resistance had arrived.
