Morpho, also known as Steve Eggman, is a major antagonist in the Sonic Boom television series, first appearing as the titular main antagonist of “Eggman’s Brother”. He's a shapeshifting robot from an alternate dimension created by the reality's version of Eggman and has traveled to the Sonic Boom world, posing as the brother of that world's Dr. Eggman. He aids Eggman in his various plans and attempts to help him conquer Seaside Island. 

He is voiced by Roger Craig Smith, who, along with voicing Sonic the Hedgehog, voiced Dave the Intern in the same series.

Appearance

Morpho's true appearance is left unknown due to his shapeshifting abilities, but his main appearance is Steve Eggman which is similar to Dr. Eggman's appearance. As Steve Eggman, he possesses an upside down egg-shaped torso with board shoulders, relatively short legs and feet, a thick neck, a dome-shaped head and a sharp nose. He has long blonde hair and a blonde colored mustache and has the same pair of glasses that Eggman has with the same color. His attire is also similar to Eggman's, but the jacket is blue instead of red and has black boots and grey pants.

Background

Morpho was created in an alternate reality parallel to the main universe of Sonic Boom by the universe's equivalent of Dr. Eggman. When the Eggman accidently blew up his home dimension, Morpho left and escaped to the Sonic Boom World where he eventually found the native Dr. Eggman and was eventually accepted as his brother and his own henchman as well.

History

Morpho first appears in the episode "Eggman's Brother" after a convoluted scheme finally brought him to the Sonic Boom World and finds out where Dr. Eggman's lair is located at. He then appears at the lair in his Steve Eggman form and meets Dr. Eggman claiming to be his long lost brother. Despite this however, Eggman ended up rejecting him and Morpho left to find Sonic and helped him and his team when they were busy fighting a battle with Eggman's Decimator Bot.

Trivia

• Considering Morpho goes by the name "Steve Eggman" instead of "Steve Robotnik", it is possible that Dr. Eggman's last name is actually Eggman, rather than a nickname.
  • This would later be confirmed as Greg Hahn, a writer for the Sonic Boom TV show, stated on Twitter that Dr. Eggman's last name was Eggman and not Robotnik.

• While Dr. Eggman himself is rumoured by some viewers to have possibly become an inspiration for Gru from the Despicable Me franchise, as both have lanky arms and legs attached to their roundish torso and both are bald with similar shaped heads, have pointy noses, and both can be hybrid heroes/villains, albeit Eggman's Boom counterpart resembles the former even more as that incarnation has an upside down egg shaped torso similar to Gru, rather than the other way around of his games counterpart, and going along with all of that, Morpho is referred to as the former's ''brother'' is almost identical to him and has blonde hair, with Dru who is Gru's almost identical twin brother, also having blonde hair. It's currently unknown if any of this was intentional in any form.
