Morris Blakey is a fictional character and major antagonist of the British soap opera Emmerdale.
He was portrayed by Douglas McFerran.
Biography
Morris Blakey first came to Emmerdale in 2017 when he got reacquainted with his old friend Eric Pollard. The pair appeared to have been involved with illegitimate politics in the past long before Eric ended up turning over a new leaf over the years.
When they later met up again in golf, Morris confined to Eric about his plans to demolish the Dingle Family homestead for a business project headed by the CEO of Waterhouse International. This shocked Eric as he had been friends with the Dingles for years now and had also begun a relationship with Dingle member Faith Dingle. At first Eric was willing to help Morris in his plans, but later refuses to continue further after learning that the Dingles would be in trouble. Morris then blackmails Eric, but in the end Eric is able to outwit Morris and the latter is forced to take measurements on his own.
At one point, Morris tries to rope businessman Jimmy King into his scheme when he discloses the fact that he previously worked with Jimmy's late father Tom King in the past. It is then Morris begins harassing the Dingles to the point where he provokes Zak into vandalizing his car in front of his daughter Belle and her boyfriend Lachlan White. A few weeks later, Morris angers the Dingles by turning up on the day they are grieving for their family dog Alfie at his funeral. Morris' presence and disruption nearly causes Zak to hit him, but he refrains at Belle's insistence. It is then Zak's wife and Belle's mother, Lisa, punches Morris and forces him to leave them in peace. Morris later bribes the council into supporting his plans with Waterhouse International against the Dingles.
It is eventually revealed that Morris is working for Joe Tate, the mastermind behind his plans as Joe seeks revenge on his stepmother Charity Dingle for supposedly killing his late father Chris Tate - even though Chris committed suicide and framed Charity for his death in retribution for her affair with her cousin Cain Dingle; during the plot, Joe faked a relationship with Charity and Cain's daughter Debbie Dingle just to gratify his vengeance. However, the plans to demolish the Dingle family homestead are foiled when Joe changes his ways and bonds with Debbie at the bequest of his right-hand man Graham Foster.
Trivia
