Morticon is a major antagonist of Power Rangers Mystic Force, serving as the initial primary antagonist of the season and the primary antagonist of first half of the series. He was the supreme commander of the Morlocks army, Octomus's second-in-command and the initial first archenemy of the Mystic Rangers. He was also boss and master of Necrolai and the heavy rival of Koragg.
He was voiced by Andrew Robertt.
Biography[]
Past[]
Morticon's past is completely unknown and was never mentioned in the series itself, but, at some point, he somehow gained leadership of the Morlocks under Octomus the Master and became the Master's right-hand man and supreme commander of the Underworld military forces. Whether he ever left the Underworld before the Master's sealing remains unclear but it is known that Koragg, The Knight Wolf joined the Morlock leadership sometime afterwards with no apparent questioning from Morticon.
Morticon participated the First Great Battle of Good and Evil and led the armies of Darkness on the Surface World. The battle was hard, but the protectors of the good managed to best the villains and send Morticon and his armies back to the Underworld and seal them. From that time Morticon spent several decades in the demonic pit, desiring to get revenge on the Mystic Wizards and return to conquer the Surface Realm.
Mystic Force[]
Even after Koragg unlocked the entrance to the Underworld, allowing the Morlocks freely travel to the Surface Realm, Morticon was initially unable to leave the Pit because Koragg's magic wasn't powerful enough to free him and teleport the evil Morlock general to the Earth. After being recently free from the confinement in the Underworld, M9rticon sent an army of Hidiacs and his monster Dark Troll to attack and kill the newly formed Mystic Rangers in the magical forest. Morticon was initially seen frequently berating and punishing Necrolai for giving him limited information about the surface world shortly after the defeat of his first monster Dark Troll, whom Morticon sent to attack the Mystic Rangers in the magical forest. He later sent Koragg to the surface with an army of Hidiacs to take over the city of Briarwood but the plan of the evil undead commander was thwarted by the Mystic Force Power Rangers.
In the fifth episode, Morticon attacked Koragg and they had a brief fight which ended by Morticon forcing the knight wolf to steal the power of the Rangers's Mystic Megazord and use it to break the evil cyborg general free from the Underworld.
Morticon temporarily broke free through to the surface when Koragg stole the Mystic Titans of their Mystic Megazord power and used this magic power to free the Morlock commander and send him to the Surface. The evil demonic cyborg sent a massive beat-down on the Mystic Dragon, ripping the Rangers apart and is about to make the final strike on Nick but the Red Mystic Ranger broke free of the villain's grip and used a counter-spell to imprison Morticon in the demonic pit once more.
In the sixth episode, Necrolai tricked Morticon into thinking that Koragg wanted the Rangers's combination power for himself and unleashed a shock wave powerful enough to make parts of his throne room's ceiling collapse and destroy several of his Styxoids soldiers. Later, he had Necrolai use the special crossbow and shoot Koragg's magic horse Catastros, in order to punish the wolf knight for claiming the Megazord power for himself. When Necrolai shot Centaudus Wolf Megazord, Koragg was separated from Catastros, and after knowing about Morticon's scheme, he attacked his rival cyborg commander and they again had a brief fight, before Octomus calmed them down and Koragv sent his new monster Rock Troll to attack the Surface. Morticon together with Koragg and Necrolai witnessed how Nick combined for the first time wirh Catastros and formed Centaurus Phoenix Megazord, defeating and destroying the Rock Troll and returning the power of the Titan Megazord to his team.
Throughout the season, Morticon tried and utilized multiple plans and schemes of destroying the Mystic Rangers and returning to the Surface Realm, but his plans were frequently foiled by the Ranger Wizards and the evil demonic cyborg commander was rarely successful. In the eleventh episode, realizing that this was his last resort to break free from the pit, Morticon had Necrolai kidnap the wizard Oracle and forcefully had Oracle tell him about the whereabouts of the new Gatekeeper, the descendant of Niella, the original Gatekeeper. Eventually, Koragg kidnapped the Rangers's friend and ally Claire Langtree and used her gatekeeper powers to summon Morticon from the Underworld.
Morticon managed to finally break free of the Underworld, when the Gargoyle of the Gates knocked the Titan Megazord into the Gates of the Underworld and proved to be very powerful. Once again in his giant form, Morticon easily defeated the Titan Megazord using his own form of the Dark Magic Strike. He then threw away the Mystic Dragon with his sword while Nick went to rescue Clare even when his comrades, the other Rangers were easily beaten down by Morticon. Once Nick saved Claire and defeated Koragg, the Red Ranger arrived on Catastros (summoned by Clare) and formed for second time the Centaurus Phoenix Megazord which overpowered Morticon very easily. The multi-colored magicians then formed their Titan Megazord so he tried his Dark Magic Strike but his sword was frozen and the Rangers realized that it was Udonna who helped them and was with them. With the tyrannical demonic commander helpless, the Rangers and Udonna combined their powers and destroyed the villain once and for all with the Mystic Strike. With his last breath, Morticon swore that Octomus will win in the end even with him gone before exploding, marking the end of the first leader of the Morlocks.
Legacy[]
All that remained from Morticon was his sword which Koragg found and claimed for himself. The wolf knight later reforged this sword into another Wolf Saber (the original having been destroyed by Nick during their battle). With Morticon dead, Necrolai was able to successfully rejoin the Morlocks without fear of death and resurrects the mummified Calindor as Imperious to replace him as the new supreme commander of the Morlock army.
Ultimately, Morticon's final words were proven to be untrue since the power of Mystic Rangers ended up destroying the Master forever.
