Mortimer is a minor antagonist in the 2010 video game, Fallout: New Vegas. He is a high-ranking member of the White Glove Society who wants the organization to return to eating human meat. He acts as the main antagonist of the quest "Beyond The Beef".
He is voiced by Jude Ciccolella, who also voiced Orion Moreno in the same game, and portrayed Edgar Noone in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Mendelson in House M.D., and Suran in Star Trek: Nemesis.
Biography[]
Mortimer was among a tribe in the Mojave Wasteland that preyed on human flesh before they became the White Glove Society and operated the Ultra-Luxe casino in New Vegas, acting as Marjorie's right-hand man. Most of the members reformed when the casino was established, but Mortimer refuses to do so, keeping his plans secret from Marjorie. He then ordered fellow cannibals to kidnap their hotel guests, and mutilate them to use their remains as meat for the upcoming banquet, and orders Philippe to cook the meat using his recipe.
Beyond the Beef[]
At some point in 2281, Mortimer kidnapped a young man named Ted Gunderson, who was the son of a wealthy rancher named Heck Gunderson, though his intended victim was Carlyle St. Clair III. The Courier enters the Ultra-Luxe and meets Heck before offering to find his son. At the start of their investigation, the Courier is given the key to a room where a private investigator was staying. However, they find the investigator before being ambushed by two White Glove members. After the Courier kills them both, they meet the investigator's contact in the steam room at around 4 P.M., named Chauncy. After learning the truth about Mortimer and deciding what to do with him, Chauncy is shot dead by an assassin, but the Courier takes him out.
The Courier then goes down to the kitchen in the basement, and tries to find Ted after finding out he is being kept in a freezer. The Courier eventually finds Ted after unlocking the freezer he was in, and the two get the idea to expose Mortimer in front of everyone for his serial kidnapping and cannibalism.
If the Courier exposes Mortimer at the banquet, he will leave the Ultra-Luxe.
They can alternatively decide to help Mortimer with his plans, by passing a speech check at the start of the mission, or by having an evil karma and a neutral strip reputation, or by having the cannibal perk, which will prompt Mortimer to request The Courier to either assassinate Heck Gunderson, or find a substitute for him.
Trivia[]
- If the player allows Mortimer to leave the Ultra Luxe, he will disappear from the game once he exits the casino.
- A hint at Mortimer's true nature, is that if The Courier kills fellow white glove members in front of Mortimer, he will not care, but he will comment on actions that The Courier commits.
