~ Morzas during his confrontation with Marth. |
Morzas (モーゼス, Moses) is a minor antagonist from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light and it's remake Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, as well as Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. Morzas is a manakete of the Dohlr Empire, and a high-ranking servant of Emperor Medeus. He is also a member of the Basilisk clan, one of the three largest dragon tribes in Archanea.
Appearance
In the Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Morza's manakete form is of an elderly man with a white beard, a long pointy nose and nails. He wears a dark green cloak. In Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Morza's appearance is identical to that of other Dolhr manaketes, but the latter characters were differentiated in Mystery of the Emblem via changes in cloak color. In Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Morza's manakete form has been redesigned to appear younger and more physically imposing. He now has ashen grey skin, a shorter nose, and a black goatee.
Morza's mage dragon form is characteristic of his species: quadrupedal and sleek. In Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, the mage dragon has two large wings and dark green scales, but in Mystery of the Emblem and Shadow Dragon, the mage dragon is now wingless and more serpentine, with dark gray scales and spikes along his back.
Personality
Like many manaketes, Morzas greatly respects Medeus as emperor. Furthermore, like many of his bretheren he is proud of his heritage and looks down on the human race. But even by other manakete standards he is a genocidal bigot who relishes any excuse to slaughter humans. He also delights in the high status granted by Medeus and the Basilisk, and happily uses his power to oppress his subjects.
Biography
During the War of Shadows, when Camus fell out of Medeus' favor for escorting Princess Nyna to Aurelius, Morzas replaced him as the occupational leader of the Kingdom of Altea, and assumed control over Camus' Sable Knights. Unlike the knight of Grust, Morzas was a brutal tyrant who treated the Alteans like slaves and ordered mass execusions on a whim. He also killed Queen Liza, mother of Prince Marth, and imprisoned Princess Elice to be given to the pontifex Gharnef. Eventually, Marth and his Altean League storm the Altean Castle and put an end to Morzas' reign of terror. However, Morzas' dying words are that Marth still lacks the necessary strength to defeat Medeus.
