The unnamed mother is the main antagonist of the web horror visual novel game Pumpkin Eater. She is the mother of Gloria and her unnamed son who abuses her daughter while thinking her dead son is actually alive.

Biography[]

In the 50's, the mother lived with her husband, daughter and son. Unfortunately, one day the son was accidentally ran over by his own father, losing his head in the process and dying. With her son's sudden death, the mother got insane and refused to believe he was dead. As the boy losed his head, the mom pitched his lifeless body and replaced his head with a jack o'lantern and forced her family to live with the corpse as if the boy was still alive, with the daughter (named Gloria) and the father disliking this and trying to convince the mother he was dead.

But the mother keeps believing her son was still alive and was just badly injuried so that he would need to stay in house until he heals up. The daughter is clearly disturbed with this, having to share the bedroom with her brother's corpse as he is still alive, with the father disappearing from the house from at least two days since his son died. It is revealed he was cheating on his wife and going to the bar. The mother even still to feed and bath her dead son. Throught the days, the boy's body starts to decompose and the mother wonder the signs, such as change of color in skin, rotting smell or flias, as she continues to believe the son is alive. Five days after the son's death, the father confront the mother about burrying his decomposing's son body, but she freaks out to the point of throwing a glass at him and threatening him with a knife while calling him murderer, even if she does not believe the boy is dead, showing how mentally decayed she is becoming with grief. Since that, the father started to embark in his wife's madness.

The school calls several times, questioning the mother. She first says that her son is sick with measles and won't be at school. The next time, she is told Gloria refuses to come home, telling them of a 'corpse' in the house. The mother lies and says an animal died in the walls and they've been struggling to deal with the body and smell. She is forced to pick up her daughter from school, immediately scolding her for blabbing to the school. Gloria tries to get her mother to her senses, but is slapped.

At a point, the police went to their house, as the neighbors related an oddly smell from the house, but the mother hides the son's corpse and says it would be something going bad in the pantry. The neighbors also related the absence of the son, but the mother states that he is sick and is recovering well, thus sparing the offices from their house. After the body starts to fall apart and become like sludge, the mother is distraught, saying how even the moldy pumpkin 'head' is no longer staying on. She then thinks of replacing the head, then gets a 'better' idea- replace the body. She recalls a neighbor boy about the same age as her son, and commands her husband to go get him. The daughter is woken up to screaming, then the father tells her to come to the cellar to see her mother. Mother presents Gloria with her 'all better' brother- a fresh pumpkin head along with the fresh, decapitated body of the neighbor boy, revealing the mother murdered him. She is fully gone mentally at this point, declaring that he's all better and that Gloria can bring him to school tomorrow. When Gloria tries to flee, the mother takes the body hostage, saying she'll kill the 'brother' if she takes another step. She then believes the son to insist that Gloria be killed, since he's the 'favorite child'. The mother agrees, and demands Gloria to come closer. Upon Gloria being saved by police, the mother wails, being dragged away from the dead bodies of her son and the neighbor boy. She is then institutionalized

for her crimes and mental state.
