~ Mother Sphere's true intentions |
The Mother Sphere is the main antagonist of Ultraman Decker, the 32nd installment of the Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman series.
She is the queen of the Sphire race and their leader whose true form exists beyond time and space, her goal is to target and destroy any civilizations that advance into space and devour any planets that get in her way. While not physically present through the series, she is built up as the final threat before appearing in the final arc taking the form of Mother Spheresaurus. She is also the Ultraman Decker counterpart of the Gransphere of Ultraman Dyna.
She was voiced by Sayaka Ohara.
Personality[]
“ | All becomes one. | „ |
~ Mother Sphere's mantra |
While not much of her personality is shown, given the Spheres' intelligent nature it can be presumed that she's sadistic, cruel and uncaring about the many lives her forces have claimed and has an ambition to destroy all who threaten her presence, such as developing civilizations like Earth and Planet Bazdo.
Appearance[]
The Mother Sphere isn't seen onscreen in her base form, but it can be safely assumed that it resembles the Gransphere of Dyna, being a larger and more complex-looking Sphere alien. In her monster form she resembles a cross between Spheresaurus, Destrudos and Queen Monera; having the former's spiked design, Destrudos' body shape and proportions and Queen Monera's size, horns and crown.
Biography[]
Future[]
The Mother Spheresaurus lead her forces to devour any civilizations that advanced into space. Among the planets that fell victim to her kind's rampages was Planet Bazdo, where one of its inhabitants, Agams, went mad when his wife was killed by a Sphere attack and opted to aid the Sphere to get revenge on Earth, whose contact with Bazdo made them unwittingly bring the Planet to the Sphere's attention.
Ultraman Decker[]
The Mother Spheresaurus more or less followed the events of the future timeline, but this time she is summoned much earlier thanks to machinations of Agams, who intends for her to devour Earth after shrinking the Sphere Barrier set up by her forces in the first episode. She finally makes her physical appearance when Terraphaser is charged by Sphere soldiers and launches a signal for her to arrive to the planet to complete her endgame. She manifests as a meteor through a black hole, but is intercepted by Ultraman Trigger, who transforms into Glitter Eternity to combat her.
Unfortunately, she proved too powerful for the hero and after defeating him brought him with her to Earth as she descended following the destruction of the Sphere Barrier. She then engages all the heroes, including the redeemed Agams and Terraphaser, and easily defeats them all, killing Agams in the process (though Terraphaser's Phase Riser survives), after defeating her opposition she begins to absorb the Eternity Core on Earth, revealing her true purpose for the planet all along while GUTS-Select's remaining forces prepare for the final battle.
In the series finale the Mother Sphere begins her plan by starting to absorb the energy of the Eternity Core while GUTS-Select reorganizes their final attack due to their limited resources and depleted energies. After being hit with a barrage of attacks from the GUTS Falcon, GUTS Hawk and Terraphaser; the Mother Spheresaurus has some of her absorbed Eternity Core energy taken by Glitter Trigger who uses it to restore Decker's powers. Decker then uses his Dynamic Type form to fight the Mother Sphere, but as he gains the upper hand the Sphere leader summons a horde of Spheres to dogpile her opponents, intending to assimilate and absorb them, while inside of her she proclaims a desire to end all suffering by assimilating all life, but Kanata and the others fight back and free themselves of her control before they once again attack with all they got, ending with Decker achieving a Glitter Form that lets him destroy Mother Spheresaurus once and for all, and all the remaining Sphere aliens as well, permanently stopping the Sphere threat.

Trivia[]
- While it's Decker's version of the Gransphere, she also has similarities to Queen Monera, such as her monstrous design, crown on her head having the same shape, spikes and the fact that the prelude to her arrival is heralded by an evil robot built by aliens infiltrating the heroes' faction.
