In 1974, Benvenuto assumes the alias of Mr. Grey and participates in the hijacking of a subway train heading for Pelham. Mr. Grey boards the train at 51st Street Station and waits until the rest of the crew were on board before taking out their guns and holding everyone in the front car hostage in order to obtain a One-million-dollar ransom.
As the hijackers wait for the ransom to arrive, their leader, Mr. Blue, is very untrusting of Grey due to his behavior. When Caz Dolowicz finds the train and tries to come aboard, Mr. Grey shoots him dead.
When the ransom arrives, Mr. Grey and the rest of the crew drive the train to an emergency exit on the way to South Ferry where they escape with their cut of the money donning new disguises. However, when Mr. Grey refuses to get rid of his gun, he is shot dead by Mr. Blue and his cut of the ransom is taken by Blue and Green.
