Mr. Le Bail is the overarching antagonist of the 2019 comedy horror mystery film Ready or Not. He is the mysterious and supernatural benefactor of the Le Domas Family, and is responsible for the family's immense fortune. It is implied that he is a powerful demon, if not the devil himself.

He was portrayed by film producer James Vanderbilt (though uncredited).

History

The Le Domas Dominion began in the 19th century. Victor Le Domas was a merchant sailor and, during one of the long sea voyages, he played a game of chance when he met Le Bail. Victor won the game and received the magic black box that became the vessel for how every game is chosen when someone new marries into the Le Domas family. However, if the chosen game is Hide and Seek, the family must hunt the new initiate down and sacrifice him or her before dawn, or suffer a terrible fate.

In present times, Alex Le Domas marries a young woman named Grace, who unfortunately draws the Hide and Seek card. Although Alex promises to save Grace from his family's wrath, he eventually turns on her after witnessing her kill his mother in self-defense. The family attempts to sacrifice Grace twice, but fails as the sun rises. Although nothing happens at first, the family begins to spontaneously combust one by one after Alex's Aunt Helene tries to kill Grace anyway. As the sole survivor of the night, Grace witnesses Le Bail's spirit briefly appear in his chair in the family room and give her an approving nod for winning the game.
