Mr. Lee is the main antagonist of the psychological slasher Don't Hang Up. He's the victim of a prank call gone horribly awry, made by the two main characters, against whom he seeks revenge.

He's portrayed by Parker Sawyers.

Biography[]

Mr. Lee was married to a woman named Mrs. Kolbein, with whom they had a daughter named Izzy. Brady Mannion and Sam Fuller, along with Jeff Mosley and their friend Roy, run a pranking channel under the username "PrankMonkey69", choosing Mrs. Koblein as their next target, and soon-to-be victim. All the boys make a prank call on her by saying an intruder is threatening her and Izzy at their house. It's not only a success, but it goes viral enough to make them famous on YouTube. What the boys never found out, and what only made Mrs. Kolbein realize the truth when it was too late, was that she dropped the phone before she could hear it was a prank. Armed with a gun, she saw a door move and shot at the person there. To her horror, Izzy was the victim, dead instantly from being killed by her mother. In shock and grief, Mrs. Kolbein then shot herself dead as well. Mr. Lee found their corpses and was forever scarred, never forgiving the boys and swearing revenge, to make them suffer like he and his family did.

On another night of prank calls, when Sam and Brady are home alone, Mr. Lee bombards them with calls and texts, repeatedly insisting they don't hang up. They're finally convinced when he says their names, addresses, and intimate details about their lives, that he's stalking and threatening them, showing how serious the situation is. Sam's girlfriend Peyton, who works at a pizzeria with Jeff, delivers a pizza they didn't order. It only gets worse when a video show's Brady's parents held hostage in their home and in their underwear. Mr. Lee hacks their phone lines and power to control the electrical grid at Sam's house and prevent them from calling the emergency hotline. Mr. Lee then sends then a video of Roy dying from plastic bag asphyxia. Leading Sam to the kitchen door to the backyard, Jeff falls forward, a bag over his head as well, his hands bound and a cord tying him to the door and cutting into his neck. Sam cuts him loose, but he's too late to save him, as Jeff suffocates and bleeds to death. Mr. Lee singles Brady out and insists he kill Sam to save his parents, before showing both footage of Peyton held hostage. Sam realizes Brady's private communications, and the two fight so badly, with Sam beating Brady unconscious.

Mr. Lee offers Peyton's release using live footage if Sam kills Brady. When Brady's zip-tied to keep him inside, Mr. Lee's photo of Izzy leads Sam to an account in her name. He finds Mr. Lee's been stalking them for over a year, along with a video of Peyton and Brady having sex, leading to Sam beating Brady again. Sam sees the video of Brady's parents is two hours before the time stamp from a clock on the wall. Once Brady's freed, Mr. lee shows real-time footage, revealing Brady's parents are already butchered to death, which send Brady spinning. The two boys plan to get to authorities, assuming Peyton's also dead. But Brady locks Sam out of the house leading each boy to two different turns. Sam finds a van Peyton's in, which he rescues her from. Brady steps over Jeff's corpse, only to realize he's not Jeff when Jeff's seen in the backyard, but Mr. Lee Having snuck in, before Mr. Lee attacks him. Peyton runs off for help, but when she screams, Sam runs after her. When he sees a masked man, he stabs him, only to rip off the mask and realized he stabbed Brady, Mr. Lee setting up yet another murder. Mr. Lee then appears and confronts both Sam and Peyton, revealing his true identity and motives. He aims a gun and fires, and when Sam comes to, Peyton's dead from a shot in her head.

Holding a gun and a knife crying, a police chopper shines a searchlight on Sam in the pouring ran and demands he surrender. It's heavily implied Sam was successfully framed for the entire mass crime spree in the one night. In the post-credits epilogue, Mr. Lee starts preparing to terrorize another prankster, implying if he's never caught, he continued his crimes in repeated droves for as long as he could and/or wanted to.
