Marces is an antagonist featured in Lupin III: The Hemingway Papers.
Appearance[]
Marcese is a man, seemingly in his late middle age, with receded greying light brown hair, a trimmed beard and wearing glasses. His primary choice of attire is a business suit.
Biography[]
Marcese is introduced lounging when two men arrive at his pad via helicopter for a business opportunity they've talked with over the phone. They talk about how the Corcaca Island government's military is having its offensive made stronger in order to maintain their side.
The men who visited him as they are needing twelve rapid rocket launchers and ten tanks for their side. Marces counters that he cannot supply that amount of weaponry with his ability. But the men insist that no one else can supply them.
Marcese reconsiders, but at a price. He then shuts them out as he has a lot of work on his hands. He then assigns Crazy Mash a mission, assassinate the german man and take the key to a chest containing the Hemingway Papers.
Later, Inspector Zenigata spots Marcese and Fujiko driving past him and chases them down, asking Fujiko where Lupin is. Once Marcese arrives at the Bank of Swiss where he stores away the key he stole in a secret compartment there before heading to a flight to Corcaca Island, where Mash informs him that everything he ordered has been loaded.
He then makes a landing at one of Consano's secret runways much to Carlos's frustration.
After a handshake, Consano was talking with him during Maria's failed attempt to assassinate him there.
Soon Marces plays chess and drinks with Consano where the latter mentions that Carlos will flip out when he learns that Consano's army has more tanks with Marces offering more with Consano still seeking to become the island's president.
In exchange, Marces asks Consano to hand over Carlos's private art museum. After losing a chess game against Consano, he was asked that they confess what they really are after. Consano suspects that Marces was also after the box containing the Hemingway papers which was in Carlos's collection and was also after the treasures.
After Fujiko overhears Marces having the key to the treasures, she defects and impersonates a soldier to meet up with Lupin. When Marces is sitting on his bed, he contemplated promoting Fujiko to vice president when he finds a note of her resignation.
Lupin proceeds to impersonate Marces and use a copy of Marces's handprint to steal the key. Just then, Marces and Mash pursue the duo via helicopter and capture the car they are in.
Marces offers to let them live if they surrender what they stole, but when Mash tells him that Fujiko refused, he orders Fujiko and Lupin dropped into the ocean.
When Marces tries to make Consano meet another business demand, the latter reveals that Mash now works for him. Marces tries to seek business with Carlos only for Mash to shoot him to death offscreen (this is symbolically shown via Marceses glasses being riddled with bullets).
