(Me want your name. You give your name. Teach name. Like like like. You give me. Me take much. Many many human. Much much blood. You like me. Me like you. Invite, go together together together. You teach name?)
~ Mr. Scarletella talking to the protagonist.
That's it... I was at the "Ghost Apartaments". And... was in the middle of a test of courage. There's a rumor that's been going around... A ruin that's not supposed to exist, will appear on rainy days. It really exists. And then I met him. "A man with a red umbrella." He's one of those famous online paranormal stories. "He'll appear on rainy days." "And trap you in illusions which cannot be escaped." "If you tell him your name, he'll take your soul." That's how all ghost stories go. So he's probably a fictional figure. That shouldn't exist in reality, but... The rumor is coming alive.
~ Adami describing Mr. Scarletella.

Mr. Scarletella is the overarching antagonist of the 2024 horror indie video game Homicipher.

A pale tall man dressed in red, always having an umbrella with him, Mr. Scarletella is a ghost who sometimes appears on rainy days to steal souls of anyone who gives him their name and seals them forever with him. He once encountered Adami Adashino on a rainy day and trapped her inside the Ghost Apartments, a dimension of the dead, his personal hunting grounds, where he constantly stalks her until she tells him her name. He is feared by all the ghosts living within this realm, who avoid him at all costs.

Appearance[]

Mr. Scarletella is an unusually tall youth standing at 249 cm (8'2 ft) tall, characterized by his bright-red medium-length hair, umbrella and long coat. Like most ghosts, he is ghastly pale and has large, black pupils with black shadows under his eyes.

Personality[]

Mr. Scarletella is relentless and persistent in his pursuit for victims, constantly stalking them and trapping them in horrible illusions of his demented pocket dimension. He is polite and composed at first, but will gradually become more and more agitated if Adami keeps attacking him, making psychotic faces. His tactics consist of ambushing his victims, preferably when they are alone, and appearing in front of them, constantly asking for their names. He has taken liking in Adami and wants to take her soul to have her all to himself forever.

Powers and Abilities[]

Mr. Scarletella has the ability to steal the soul of anyone who gives him their name, and can recognize when he is being lied to. Unlike other ghosts seen in the game, he is intangible and thus cannot be harmed by the crowbar, although this in turn makes him unable to attack without knowing the other person's name. He tends to teleport instead of walking, and this ability possesses a digital effect, much like whenever an attack passes through him. His presence can change the color of his surroundings to pure red and make it hard for others to stay by their senses. If his traditional intimidation is not effective, he can teleport his victims to a pocket dimension consisting of bloody ocean.

Weaknesses[]

While his digital avatar is invulnerable to attack, Mr. Scarletella has an exploitable weakness of having his soul tied to an umbrella. If damaged, he will lose his memory. If broken entirely, he will instead die.

Trivia[]

  • Mr. Scarletella is similar to Slender Man from Slender Mythos, with both being tall formally-dressed enigmatic figures who frequently stalk protagonists, teleport throughout remote locations and steal souls. Most of the game, Mr. Scarletella's face is obscured by his hair, giving him somewhat 'faceless' look.
  • Mr. Scarletella is also very similar to The Beast from Over the Garden Wall, as they are both enigmatic entities who steal souls in remote locations and resort to psychological manipulation, as they are both intangible and thus incapable of attack. Both characters are also very reliant on certain items (Scarletella on his umbrella, The Beast on his lamp) and will die if they are destroyed.
