Mr. Edward Underwood, or better known as Mr. Underwood, is the adoptive father of Freddy Krueger whom he presumably took in at a young age when the boy's biological mother gave him up for adoption.
He was portrayed by singer-songwriter Alice Cooper.
A severe alcoholic, Underwood abused Freddy both verbally and physically, his preferred method of beating the boy apparently by whipping him with a belt.
Once he became a teenager, Freddy, fed up with his foster father's abuse, murdered the old man when he came home drunk one day, laughing off Underwood's blows before stabbing him in the eye with a straight razor, a memory which Freddy's daughter Maggie would later witness after entering her father's mind years later.
