And I was stuck on a teacher's salary, bro. Couldn't barely pay my alimony.
~ Mr. Walters revealing his motives for selling drugs.

Mr. Walters, also known as Coach Walters, is the main antagonist of the 2012 action comedy film 21 Jump Street and a minor character in its sequel 22 Jump Street.

He is a gym teacher who was secretly selling synthetic drugs called H.F.S. (an acronym for "Holy F***ing S**t") to students from various academic institutions, where he does that undercover with his fellow drug-dealing partners Eric Molson and Domingo. However, his plans were later foiled once Greg Jenko and Morton Schmidt exposed his crimes. He is also the archnemesis of both Jenko and Schmidt.

He was portrayed by Rob Riggle, who also played Aloysius O'Hare in The Lorax, Bela in Hotel Transylvania 2, Theodore Murdsly in The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, Carl in Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, Travis and Captain Lippencott in Dumb and Dumber To, Mr. Dickers in Victorious, and Greg in Disney's Big Hero 6: The Series.

Biography[]

Mr. Walters is a gym coach at a high school where a synthetic drug known only as H.F.S. has been bought and sold to countless teenagers and students.

He first met Jenko and Schmidt under drugs, and talked to them. Walters immediately showed strong hostility towards the two. After Eric forced them to take the H.F.S. Jenko and Schmidt were unable to concentrate on him threatening to send them to the principal's office should they not run the tracks, as they started hallucinating he was a fox puppet figure and then an ice cream cone.

Mr. Walters was actually a drug supplier at the high school as he reasons that he has to make some extra bucks to pay his alimony to his wife; he has the popular environmentalist Eric Molson as the leader of his drug trade under his influence, and is in cahoots with Domingo and his gang, until he betrayed them by stealing the money, driving off with Eric and a drunken Molly (who he chose to use as a hostage) in a limo. Jenko and Schmidt took chase and stopped them.

While taking Molly hostage, Walters was shooting at Schmidt, but Jenko jumps in front of Schmidt, saving his life and getting shot in the arm and his chest, which was protected by a bullet-proof vest in the process. In response, Schmidt shoots Mr. Walters in the groin, castrating him before being arrested (properly with his Miranda rights correctly read to him) and taken away.

In 22 Jump Street, Jenko and Schmidt visit Mr. Walters and Eric in prison, where Walters says that after being shot in the crotch, he now has a vagina. He also claims to be Eric's girlfriend, which Eric denies. In the post-credits scene, Walters whispers to Eric that "he's late", indicating that he may be pregnant with Eric's baby, much to the latter's horror.

Trivia[]

  • The Lorax and 21 Jump Street, both of which Riggle starred in, came out in 2012 on the month of March.
  • Mr. Walters is gay, as he has a man-crush on Jenko and being Eric's prison wife. However, it has also been suggested that he was married to a woman at some point, which means he may be bisexual (it is worth noting, however, that many gays also marry the opposite sex, either due to being closeted at the time or many other circumstances).
  • He loves Doritos cool ranch, as he used them to make the H.F.S. and is often seen eating them.
